Hi,I have a problem with Need For Speed Rivals : I get some serious FPS drops, it is unplayable, why is it unplayable when I could play BF3 on Max settings and BF4 on Medium/High ? Also, there's no real video options, I can't turn off the Depth Of Field or distant blur, which only makes the game look worse than it should on minimum settings and give me even worse performance, I get as low as 3 fps sometimes and I didn't buy the game to play in "slow-motion".I have an i5 @ 2.7Ghz (2 cores, 4 with hyperthreading)AMD Radeon HD5850 with 1GB DDR5 @ 735mhz/1000mhz8GB ram @ 1033mhz.Sometime the gameplay freezes, the sounds go on, moving tree/effects continue to be active, but the car and all other cars around me are stuck for a few seconds, just like the all got from 200mph to 0mph in 1 nanosecond and then they suddenly resume their activity after a 2/5 seconds pause.I've tried with stable and beta drivers, no change there, even tried to change the config file, to no use, as there is nothing to COMPLETELY disable poor effects that cause poor performance. I really like the game, but as you can guess, it's quite a big issue not even being able to play in less than 720p and still having 3 fps while being over the minimum requirements.Does anyone have a solution or even encountered this ?PS : I'm running on Windows 7 x64 and tried both the x86 and x64 version of NFS : Rivals.

I notice the same thing on my Alienware laptop with an i7 processor and a b***load of RAM, except it doesn't seem to make any diff as to the complexity of the scene, participating in a race or etc. Also, if I stick with the session, the framerate comes back after 3-5 mins, the drops out and comes back until I finally give up and bail.Yes, Ive done clean boots, and Ive run task manager and performance checkers while NFS Rivals has been acting up, and I can find no other app or process that seems to be interfering with the game.I am stumped.Since so many people have this prob, I wonder if it would be grounds for EA to offer a refund, as they don't seem to be eager to offer advice or a patch? Just saying...Clarification...I agree that the game is excellent, and I would much rather get a workaround or a patch rather than a refund. But I have invested a bit of money and am not satisfied playing a game with all the immersion of Frogger on a 80286 box with DOS 3.2. I would rather not buy a second copy if I have to move to Xbox360 in order to fully enjoy the title.PS-- Just noticed that when FPS drops out during a timed event, the clock keeps running in real time. Unlocks are going to be hard to come by if it takes one 10:00:00 to run a race that has a max time of 2:30:00 to earn a Bronze finish.

I hope there will be a patch. But for the moment something like a "We're looking into that" from EA would be enough for me. In the current state the game is not playable for me.

I have had it with EA....they do not even let us know when they are going to fix the freaking game!!I now understand why people always be hating on EA.....because they do crap like this!!

Pc gamers get to enjoy NextGen features like framelock at 30, non visible Antialiasing, cutted graphic options and many more LMAO..... I really hope a patch is in the works for the PC ver... I would rather play the game without the NextGen extras...

I have the same issue. Can play BF4 on Medium settings at 1600x900, yet can't even play this on lowest at 1280x720, without it becoming a flip book if I enter more congested areas, or more than one racer is on the road. Both online and Offline, so not my connection either.
CPU: Athlon x4 640 3.0GHz
GPU: NVidia GTX560 1GB GDDR5
RAM: 16GB DDR3 1600MHz
OS: Windows 8.1 Pro x64
Also tried both x64 and x86, and a couple of lag fixing profiles, but all to no avail.

Same for me.

It often happens that the FPS drop to 25 which makes the game feel like it runs in slow motion. At special places (always the same places) like the harbor it drops to about 15FPS and is absolutely unplayable!

Yes, this happens in more congested areas, the game is not optomized from what i have seen. Mine dips below 25 which really kills the immersion.

The funny thing is: If you use that command to enable 60 FPS limit, the game runs fast like hell. Playing with 60FPS is not possible because the game runs so damn fast. The whole game speed gets doubled.

In the areas where the framerate drops to about 15 FPS the exact oppesite happens. The game really runs in slow motion. That really has to be fixed. If the game speed really depends on the framerate and only about 30 FPS are the beste experience, than the game has to run on 30FPS everywhere!

At least I finally found some people expirencing the game feeling like it's in slow motion. I had a terrible feeling that I was the only one. I really hope EA patches this soon. As it was said before. Even if they just said they're working on it, and no estimated date to when it will be done, I will be happy.

Wouldn't go so far as to a refund, the game is great, despite these drops. Just makes it incredibly annoying. Just wish they'd aknowledge the problem and have a patch ready soon. Any longer and they would probably have to look at something similar to the SimCity launch, and offer a game to all affected.
Also, out of curiosity, how many of you run 2 screens? I have a TV above my PC screen that I use, and is seen as the primary screen by Windows (despite my constant attempts to change it). Before I commented on here, I had only played the game on my PC screen, however last night I tried it on the TV and it definitely seemed better, there were still drops, but no where near as bad.
Anyone else noticed this?

I have 2 monitors. Tried on both of them, plugged one completely off, nothing changed.

I don't want a refund either. The game is really great! Just a Patch which fixes that and everything is fine.

Edit:

It looks like most of the people with that problem have a Geforce Card. In the offical german forums is also a thread about that problem and the guys over there are using Geforce Cards. And in this thread everyone except the thread opener has a Geforce Card.
