If you drive to the left directly next to that ship the framerate is just pain in the...head...definitly in the head...and nothing else ^^
I have tested this slightly today after being patched, and I can at least report that the framerate has definitely improved in most areas, I am running a GTX 660, so maybe they just fixed the framerate when working with Nvidia cards?
That being said, there is still a major framerate drop area as mentioned by chaz0r above, the link is:

The odd thing is, the framerate, for me anyways, only drops when you are looking in the direction as the screenshot and driving in that direction (Northwest) through the area, it drops to about 24 and slow motion. If you turn around after driving through the village (Southeast) then the framerate is fine, at a constant 30 for me.
This still shows that the framerate is tied to the speed of the game, so that hasn't been fixed yet, although I don't think it can. Also, the ability to pause is still not there, in offline mode. Just having the game beside me and writing this post I was busted while just sitting there, I wasn't even driving! The cops were not after me before this either, why the hell are they ALWAYS after me, even if I'm not speeding and parked! This was a bad design choice, and you can read the many reviews on Metacritic about not being able to pause (and yes I realize that many of the other 0 reviews are trolls, but not being able to pause a racing game is a legitimate concern).
Thank you for trying to fix the issues EA, but still a bit more work is needed, and I think since I at least pre-ordered the game (as many did, giving you money on an untested product) and many others have done extensive testing for you for FREE, you should, in good faith, continue to work on the issues and improve this game, since it could be a decent game with more work. Please!

scrble,
Thank you very much for taking the time to capture screenshots of the spots where the frame rate always drops. I'm running an overclocked 3970X, coupled with an also overclocked 780Ti and experience the frame rate dips in the very same spots. Those places near the water, with the palm trees are the worst offenders in my opinion. Interestingly enough, both GPU and CPU usage are very low at those spots, hovering around 20%. Therefore, it's crystal clear that the problem has nothing to do with the hardware you're using, but the game engine in itself.

Wow! I thought it *might* be my hardware, but this is sort of good to know, that even I7's with crazy good video cards are having the same issues. No point in upgrading I guess, at least not for this game, it's amazing they got it to run at all on consoles!
I'm trying to be curteous to EA so they will continue to fix the game, however flawed it may be. They have been monitoring these forums - yelling at them will not help, they probably won't listen. I still could potentially enjoy it on a certain level, again for what it is. I'm not overly concerned with the 30 FPS limit, I can deal with that, it's the fact it doesn't run at 30FPS with mid-high end PC's. I also don't think it was wroth the $50 price tag on pre-order. The pause issue is almost a game breaker though, and it is for many, many people.

No improvement with the patch. The beach area and others still slow down by 25-33%.

Could it be somthing like water texture programinng? Is there any common conection to the slow downs ive seen a few on ps3, one near the lighthouse and the cop HQ

The patch made no improvements. I tried running the game in windowed mode. Every time the game freezes I alt+tab to another window and the game stops freezing but when i go back to the game it freezes up again.

The problem is may be at "breakble objects" like there are too many items down the stairs at the beach.. There are like 300-400 chairs/tables columns which are breakable objects... Also at the supermarket area there are many shopping carts also.. ?

Thanks again EA and Ghost for the useless patch and for not caring at all about the PC. Is it that hard to fix that game?

THIS!!!!!! I also get minor slowdown in areas with lots of breakable barricades. This might be the unoptimized element that is slowing all of our games down! - Anonymous12 years ago
I have to say that nothing is better than before since the patch. But now I have serious problems with popping objects like cops, other cars, environment and stuff. Even the Host Migration does not work correctly sometimes. If you gamed for 500.000 Speed Points and the game hangs the complete computer and a DirectX error is shown in the background this sucks big EA! I had not even 2 hours of gaming where this game does not hang, reboot, or error on something and I can confirm that it is not my machine, so guess what? It's a software problem!
Thanks for the free new car, but it would be better to fix the bugs first before doing in-game commercial for Ford!

the new patch got me about 4 frps more than before in certain areas (still to laggy 😕mileysad🙂, but the places that you mentioned are unplayable.
I thought of this either...especially in the area with the harbour there are plenty of objects.
But then I found other areas where the framerate drops are as bad and there were exactly 4 objects with physics on the screen. 4 small gate parts ^^
So I don't think that this is the problem : / - Anonymous12 years ago
For those of us who returned the game and were waiting for a patch to fix the problems, I gather based on the recent posts in this thread that this update has not been a solution - is this correct?
Thanks.

Yup hasnt done much 😕mileysad: hopefully there will be another patch soon.
