There could be some software running on bootup that is causing a problem:
1) Temporarily disable your antivirus software
2) perform a clean boot before starting the game: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

There may be some useful crash related info at the bottom of your Dxdiag report, can you generate and then post that please?

Thanks.

Any news regarding this issue? I have the same problems. It worked without any issues yesterday until i had finished the prologue...

I am just speculating here, but it sound a lot like the game cannot load the first video file that it has to play and then crashes. Or perhaps the issue is on hardware side.
Again, just speculating, but what you could try is to:
1. Uninstall Visual C++ 2015 and 2013 packages from Control Panel and install them a new via vc redistributable installers than came with the game. Example location for me: C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Need for Speed Payback\__Installer\vc
2. If you are using Windows 10, disable Windows Game Mode. To do this:Press WINDOWS key -> Click on the "Settings" button -> Click on "Gaming" -> Click on "Game Mode" -> Disable it -> Close the window.
3. Ensure that Profile folder exists on your computer. For me it is located here: C:\Users\GZBoy\OneDrive\Documents\Need For Speed(TM) Payback
I doubt any of the above helps, but still might work. The less solid idea would be outdated video codecs... you could try to download new video codecs, I use K-lite video codecs for example - https://www.codecguide.com/download_kl.htm

Your machines are a little below the system requirements.
Some steps to help borderline cases:
- Update or reinstall you video drivers after removing them correctly
- Install all available Windows Updates
- Right click and run all the vcredist and the DXSETUP as an Administrator. Find those files in your game install location
- Perform a clean boot before starting the game: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135
I don't believe you anymore Ea_Barry, and you know why, maybe my processor isn't at recommended frequency but still the rest of them are close to high but funny enough I managed to play for one hour without any lag, without any issue and suddenly after updating the origin client it stopped working...
I have the latest drivers and the latest updates, also i performed a clean boot, removed all vcredist and reinstalled them from the game folder installed and nothing helped. As I said above funny enough without doing any of these steeps the game actually was running for one hour before me closing the game and since then nothing seems to bring the game to life...
Also here is my system.
- Anonymous8 years ago@EA_Barry Thanks for the tips, i did all what you told me but with no succes :/
Is there no other fix yet? here is mine also
Bought the game when it got released and have been playing it everyday untill yesterday when it just stopped working, everytime I try to launch the game it opens and closes to desktop again, without saying any error.
Only change I remember happening to the software since the game was working fine, was probably an windows update for directx. I already used system recover for before the update but still not working.
My guess is that last windows updade is screwing with our game but I could be wrong.
Here is my dxdiag
The most annoying thing is that nobody gives an answer that could at least point to someone working on this issue...It is the very last time I will buy something from EA...they destroyed Mass Effect with Andromeda and now this...money grabbing and forget about the problems of the users.
