The game itself uses an adaptive difficulty engine, that means the more races you win and the further ahead you are from oppenents, the harder the races become in the future (and even during the race itself), if you keep losing, the game will cause opponents to crash more often and reduce the difficulty of the opponents.

*The game also reduces the race difficulty when restarting it.

    Does it though? Decided to replay through the game again. Stuck on a outlaw race. 5 cars racing, yet the cops only chase you. Those other 4 cars know right where the spike strips are. And to top it all off, they get a head start.and a good head start. It’s bs.
