Re: Feedback & Suggestions
Things I feel this game can have added in to be better enhanced:
1.) The ability to paint individual parts of the car separate from the main body
The wrap editor is an amazing tool, but it is a pain in the neck to "paint" things like the doors or hood of a car with a decal (especially for cars with more 'unusual' shapes in those areas, like the 2015 Ford Mustang or the Lamborghini Huracan for example) If the same customization allowing you to change the fenders, canards, bumpers, etc, is brought over to the wrap editor, I believe even more amazing wraps can be made (or at least be made easier). Black and white "fake" police livery anyone?
2.)NEON lights(at least underglows)
While you don't need to go "give everything Neon" like underground 2 (it'd be cool if you did though), neon lights in general are surprisingly absent from this game. I feel underglow lights are somewhat of a staple of the series, and not having them makes it feel a little less "cool." I for one like to have a neon to complement (or contrast) the color of my car (for example having a blue neon with a red car, or red neon on a red car). without this, it takes away slightly from the visual factor
3.) The option to drive with a manual transmission/ adding drag races
I have mixed feelings with this. On the one hand, i don't use it except for in drag races (which has anyone else noticed that those are pointedly absent from the game?) On the other hand, drag races are a fun (and frustrating) event that gave previous games more of a challenge. Nothing beats the controller-flinging rage of a photo finish that you lost, and comparatively the adrenaline rush of just barely winning that same photo finish. Of course, destroying the competition in a greatly superior car has its perks too, but that's beside the point. Point being, the option to drive with manual transmission and adding drag races can help satisfy many players and give those who want to be more "hardcore" the ability to do so
4.)Song selection/more availability of songs anywhere
this game supposedly has a great and extensive soundtrack, but I only hear maybe 10 different songs while free roaming/ racing, and then maybe another 5 while in the garage. The game could be better if there was a soundtrack menu like in previous games and other racers (like the Burnout series) , so you can chose which songs to hear when (if at all). You want high-energy, intense music while racing and chasing? Done. You want more soothing/ relaxed tunes when getting that perfect angle on your wrap? Do it. You don't care what you hear or when? Play everything anytime. You want to listen to an "outside" radio? That's cool too.
5.)An offline/single-player campaign
while I understand the reasoning of making this an MMO style racing game, an always online requirement is hurtful in the long run as it makes the game limited to unplayable to those with bad or no internet connection. Yes, there is an option to play by yourself against the AI, but this still requires internet. If there was an option to play solo offline, then I'm sure many more players would be able to enjoy this game than "just" those for which internet isn't a problem. I believe this game is better with others (and it maybe more beneficial for those who can to play with others, unlike rivals which I feel there would be WAY too much trolling of cop players hunting down racer players or racers wrecking other racers players), but for those who don't want to or are unable to enjoy online play, the option can be there so they can see what the game offers.
6.)More garage space
Self-explanatory, either give the current garage more spaces for cars OR add in the ability to have/ buy a secondary (or multiple) garage(s). An option could be to use Robyn's and Manu's lockups as extra space. Amy may be the mechanic of the group, but the whole point of a lockup is not just for a social space. Another possible option could be to buy a new or bigger garage like in GTA online, or PGR3 (if anyone remembers that) and the only limit would be how much money you can/ want to spend and how many cars you actually want to store
7.) More aggressive cops
this is definitely a balancing act, i agree. make cop chases too easy, and there's little satisfaction/ motivation to doing them. make them too hard and players spend more money on fines than on upgrades and/or cars (or end up losing their favorite car to the impound). Rivals did have a good system where the AI cops were coordinated and throwing everything they had at you pretty frequently, and escaping them came more down to player skill than just hitting the highway and flooring it (it was also WAY more frustrating when you crashed and allowed the bulk of the pursuit to catch up, you KNEW you weren't surviving long after that point). On the opposite side of the coin, you have the classics like MW 2005, carbon, and undercover where the chases were about average difficulty overall but it was amazingly fun to run full throttle into the back of a roadblock and send the cop car flipping end over end. Satisfying as that was, chases didn't ACTUALLY get hard until about heat level 3-ish in those games, and hitting lvl 5 and seeing those white corvettes rolling in, you KNEW it was about to go down at that point. You had to build to get to the actually challenging heat levels, and more often than not I'd either turn around or just straight up stop just to prolong the pursuit a little more. That's sort of how this game feels, but there is no major difficulty shift or progression, EXCEPT for when when you are forced to stop and they "bust" you. some games (the classic NFS's) gave you enough time to just evade the bust and re-engage the pursuit (and fuel your ego as you laugh manically and scream "YOU'LL NEVER TAKE ME ALIVE!") , while others (like this one or the Crew) feel like if you get stopped , you might as well hand them the money because there is no (or not enough) time between the stop and the bust for those clutch evasions.
TL;DR, make more of a balance between Rivals' aggressive cop AI and the more progressive style of the classics, and slightly increase the amount of time between the stop and the bust to allow for some amazing clutch escapes
This game definitely has taken steps in the right direction, but it can keep getting better if some or all of these aspects are added in the near future.
Keep on making those killer wraps, going full throttle, and don't stop for anything, racers!
