Indeed, Gas to Drift in combination with Traction Control on is perfect for a grip build i use race parts if i want more grip i use drag tires for that simulation style just like in Gran Turismo. also make sure in the live tuning put the steering sensitivity to low and Downforce on high (for grip builds only)

Edit: Something that i forgot to mention is if you use drag tires try to find the best racing line you will know what i mean once drag tires are installed.
