Re: In Need for speed Rivals keyboard stops working.

@Flatguy

Can you let us know if starting the game via the following specific path helps please:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Need for Speed(TM) Rivals\NFS14_x86.exe

Origin by default tries to run the non-x86 executable.

    I got this problem too and my pc is win 10 pro 64-bit with Geforce GTX650.  The keyboard doesn't work in both x86 and non-x86 version after entering the game for 5-10 minutes.

    Hi Barry,

    the exact path for the game I run is: "E:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Need for Speed(TM) Rivals\NFS14.exe".

    I've seen that there is another executable file: "E:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Need for Speed(TM) Rivals\NFS14_x86.exe"

    Which is the right one?

    Thank you.

    Federico

    @Flatguy

    The one I wanted you to try is the second one, the NFS14_x86.exe one.

    It is also possible that not having the game running from your C:\ drive could be something to look at.

    @chowsc8

    Are you also not running the game from your C:\ drive?

    Hi Barry,

    just tried the second one but still facing that problem.

    Game is installed onto the second hd.

    As far as I remember, first drive was dedicated to OS and docs.

    @Flatguy

    Before suggesting changing the install location of your EA games, can you try changing your in-game resolution and testing the issue. If the keyboard works for an extended period, change the resolution back to your desired setting and test again. Do let us know your results here, thanks.

    I did not change any setting and I just install the game in C drive.  If this problem cannot be solved, I will not buy this game again as I have already refunded before.  I want to play this game so please advise me.

    @chowsc8

    Thanks for adding that. A few items to check:

    • Are you on a VPN?
    • If your keyboard is wireless you might check the batteries in the keyboard/receiver
    • Check for, and complete any available Windows updates

    No VPN and full batteries for keyboard/receiver.

    For WIndows updates, it crashes with my Nvidia driver and black out my monitors when starting windows. Is it possible to have alternatives?

    I try to update my computer and just finished the update. Is the problem can be solved?

    @chowsc8

    Can you please make sure that only your mouse and keyboard are attached to your system? Unplug all other USB devices that you aren't using--this includes the wireless receiver for your other keyboard.

    If that doesn't help then you can run your system in a clean boot to see if this is a driver related issue.

    I'm with this same problem. I tried all informed choices, but not the keyboard works. Also use the Win10 X64 and the latest version of Origin, to get into the game it works the keyboard to the screen "press enter" when passing this screen, stop work.

    Hi guys,

    I came to a solution: I formatted the whole pc, starting from zero.
    Now game works perfectly well.

    I found another issue (game freezes), but the keyboard problem has been solved from my side.

    I hope this may help.

  • Yes, changing the resolution from 1080p to 720p helped. It is not as crisp but I can play it now.

  • O' Goodie! Just as I got exited the problem persists... I am afraid that playing the game offline everything is fine, the issue is when I'm joined online... The resolution is not the problem here I think.

    I had the exact same problem after doing a fresh install of Win 10 64bit after having 8.1 64bit.  Sometimes I couldn't even get past the opening screen or could play 5-10 minutes before the keyboard the game would stop responding to the keyboard and I had to CTRL-ALT-DEL to get to task manager and kill the game.  Running the 32 bit version seems to have solved it.  Gotta wonder why they even made a 64bit version - there's no advantages to it.  Also if they let you use any gamepad instead of only supporting the XBox controller, this probably wouldn't be an issue.  When running the 64bit version it would occasionally crash the Nvidia driver.  Haven't had that happen with the 32bit version yet.  They could have at least made shortcuts to both versions so people would know there was a choice.  If you didn't know, you'd think Microsoft made the game.

  • well I do some changes with settings I installed in D drive and my keyboard stuck after 2 hours gameplay ... i was unable to save my Speed Points...help!

  • never put games on the windows drive if you do that then your pc can run slow
