If you already created a NFS Carbon account, you run Carbon and login using your in game persona and password. I don't recall the error you are reporting showing up when trying to log in when running Carbon. I don't recall anything in Carbon that would send a user name for a provided email address.

Carbon uses the old (before 2008) EA account system, which was never migrated to the new (2008 or later) EA account system or later the Origin account system. I use different email addresses for the old and new account systems to avoid confusion, and also so that EA support would know if they were dealing with the old or the new account system, but the last time I dealt with EA support was around 2010. I don't know if EA support can still work with the old account system anymore, such as finding what persona you use for Carbon.
