Sadly it seems this game won't ever get the option to remap buttons as they have stopped updating the game now. They said the last update that just came out is the last one 😞
If you have a xbox gamepad for pc just download xbox Accessories and use that to change what button does what on your gamepad it worked for me
I liked your sharing solution but unfortunately, this won't help everyone.
There are a lot of players in the NFS Heat community who can't afford to buy an Xbox Controller due to their young age.
For those who are Adults and can afford to buy an Xbox controller.
I have not seen any posts Since NOV 2019 showing anyone could change their mapping on the controller.
this is the only controller features we have thus far.
I wanted to change the accelerate/brake currently assigned to the triggers to the joysticks instead. This can't be done by Xbox app or Steam Overlay. Both don't allow changing of the analogue controls.
did you download the right app? it has to be xbox Accessories and do you have a xbox gamepad for pc?
Most of us run racing games the big boy way with game wheels.
For the rest who like controllers well, there is no remedy to changing the mapping.
However, I found this helpful link everyone gives this a try and see if it helps.

If it doesn't then not much else to add here.
The game is toast anyway as it was a bust in sales and had far too many complaints from our community.
Have a great day.
For me there is no fix using a controller and personally i would not use a steering wheel for this type of game. The XBox accessories App and Steam overlay does not allow remapping of analogue inputs, only buttons. I am using XBox Elite Controller. I found other forums on MS sites of people saying only buttons can be remapped.
It's a shame, looks like a nice game but I'm not too bothered now. PC3, Dirt5 and F1 2020 are all coming soon! 🙂
with the xbox a accessories i was able to remap my joy stick on the xbox controler cause the button you had to push it down to use so i was able to change it and remap it to a trigger on the pad so it should work right.
