Re: NFS Shift 2 crashes

@Imanoobslaya

Hi,

A game crashing is a very broad problem which usually results from a problem on the system the game is being played on.

If you tell me that your game is crashing you will need to be a bit more specific with me - are you getting an error message? What type of system are you playing on? Providing me with a dxdiag will be a good first start for me to look into this for you.

    If you press Choose File when you Reply, then you can actually attach the dxdiag to your post. This avoids the wall of text. Could you please add it like that when you have the time? :-)

    What I found so far:

    • Your system DPI (size of items on your screen) is set to 125% which can cause crashes in some games. Try setting this to 100%.
    • Your monitor is not set to its native resolution of 1280 x 720(p) (60.000Hz)
    • Your GPU drivers are newer then the latest drivers available for your device - this means that you might not have the correct drivers for your card. (there is also a beta available, not sure if those would work for your system).
    • Also try disabling Origin in-game.

    Let me know if that helps.

    Now instead of crashing on a couple of tracks it is audio only and black screen. I had to count the clicks and close it by memory because ctrl alt tab wouldn't let me out . Windows buttons failed to release me as well. Now it is completely unplayable Gee thx.

    I cannot detect anything else on your dxdiag other than what I already found in my previous post.

    If the game is still crashing then prepare an MSINFO report (this contains personal information - do not post it on the forum) and reach out to an EA Advisor - they will be able to see the cause of your game crashes.

    Note that it could also be that your GPU is starting to show signs of age.

    Don't blame my computer. I run Dragon Age Inquisition  and Witcher 3 without a hiccup. Your recommendation made the game UNPLAYABLE instead of just crashing on a few tracks. This game is a lump of *.

    The only thing that we really did is update your drivers. I see that you choose to go for the beta ones which could hold problems in itself. Instead, try reverting to the latest non-beta drivers on the page that I linked you.

    I tried restoring to the non beta with the same results, black screen of death, sound only. Just to be absolutely clear. I've seen this problem (the black screen) on this exact game before. Let me explain. I bought 2 copies of this game, one for my desktop and one for my brand new laptop so I could race my buddies. Now when I installed it on this (the desktop) it installed and ran flawlessly with the exception of Donington Park speedway which crashes EVERYTIME I try to load it.  When I installed it on the BRAND NEW laptop (remember I have 2 hard copy discs of this game) it gave me the black screen of death I am currently experiencing on this computer. On that computer the solution was to create an Origin account and use the CD key to download * an uncorrupted I assume* copy of the game direct from Origin. After I did that the game runs BUT STILL CRASHES ON DONINGTON PARK SPEEDWAY even on the brand new laptop. Now the problem is for some weird reason when I attempt to use my OTHER CD Key for my origin account on THIS computer it now tells me the key has been used even though it didn't do that with the other computer and disc.
    Yes I am absolutely certain I am using the correct CD key because they are in two separate rooms.

    @Imanoobslaya

    The CD Key is registered two an account. That means if you have two keys that you also have two EA accounts - log in with your other EA account and you should be good to go.

    You can reach out to an EA Advisor with the product code ready if you are unable to locate the correct account yourself.
