I have the same issue and I followed your advice. I did not find a contact form or anything. I was forced to post into public space.
Let's hope I get an answer this way. But I would like to express my disappointment here as well that EA can sell a title from a certain age off and then deny access to 40% or more of the game because the age limitation on the Origin account...
Playstation Network handles this with sub-accounts and parental control mechanisms. And they don't necessarily even make money on this other than selling the hardware. You should contact them and talk to their online account management team to get some inspirations into the right way of dealing with this.
The current policy is bate and switch, even if it's mentioned with 4 point fonts in a 70 page document. But I know that this is my humble opinion as a client of yours...
Thank you for having me waste 4 hours on Christmas eve to try to figure this out. That would be 600 Swiss franks if I'd do the same thing for a client...

Hear Hear Alframe - I am a long time buyer of EA games and have started the same for my kids, highly disappointed that games aimed at this age group is constantly coming up stupid issues like this.
Oh yes when you read the fine print its in there but not in figures, only that you need an EA/Origin account...since i never had a problem i did not expect an issue.
I have verified my kids ability to play games which are purchased by takin gthe responsibility for them on xbox Live why not the same on Origin/EA games???
What is really happening?? you are fiorcing a generation of kids to lie and their parents to lie as they create false accounts, this seems like a non sensical solution as what EA is really accepting is that kids under age play over age games but that ok, we'll just bury our heads...
It is the adult cash which is paying and I am furious that we will miss out on this content due to this maddening issue, sort it out!!
I have the same problem. I am 13 and legally allowed to have my own gmail account yet I go to the customer service online chat thing and he said I have an underage account. What? You have to be eighteen to own Sim City 5?
It's not Origin, it's the government. It's illegal to buy for someone who is underage. Hear that? Its illegal.
What I don't understand is why don't they (Origin) do what Steam does and ask for your age depending on what game your buying.

The silly thing about EA is it does not look at the restrictions placed on the account by the PARENT in XBOX live. In XBOX live I have the ability to set my sons restrictions lower even though he is underage. My son is 12 and cannot play even though his restrictions set in XBOX are for 16 and older. EA fails to acknowledge this and strictly goes off the birth date on the account. This is silly and this will probably be the last EA game I ever purchase unless this is fixed. I should be the one to allow or not allow my child to play, not EA.

Thanks, Tom; But the online support form only leads to a "Call Me" options which applies to people in North America ONLY! So sitting as a customer in Dubai how can I get in contact with someone who can get the online features of StarWars Battlefront enabled for me, so my son may enjoy the product I purchased fully? Could we please simply have written guidance on how to change the age settings of my sons Origin Account, and receive a contact phone number I can call for further advise? Thank you.
DICE TeamWe currently don't have a dedicated support channel for Dubai. In your case you can use a voIP program such as Skype to call our UK line on +44 203 0141818 - 9AM-9PM GMT, Monday through Saturday.
Note that using a voIP will incur similar charged as local calls.

lots of complaints all over the web for at least 3-4 years and EA has done nothing about it. The ratings on games are simply suggested age appropriateness. It is not law as far as I know, if it is please give reference to the law code. Just as movies and tv shows have ratings there is no one but the parent censoring it for their kids. Theaters try to do it but if you have someone over 18 you can get in to that PG13 rated movie when you are 10. Its not an xbox or ps issue so please stop bringing that up. It is a age restriction on the servers based on your age on the PSN or Xbox account, which by the way already allows us to restrict things.
NFS and Battlefront seem to be the biggest complaints. Why not allow the game to be played just restrict chatting because really that is the issue isn't it? Otherwise you would be restricted from playing these games offline. So simply restrict this based on the age not the entire online game.
had to get my 2 cents in cause I just got Battlefront 1 and was planning on getting 2 in Nov for my son but having second thoughts.
I am afraid I do not have a great solution for you...The work around is a new account with a new profile that increases your age. EA have no problem with this as long as it is done with the permission of a parent, which they cant verify btw, so as a result you can pretty much do as you wish. I tried to make it so that my son could have my permission through the XBOX system however that didn't work as clearly there is no communication between Microsoft and EA.....this may have changed since we tried this last but I doubt it.
I am sorry this isn't as easy as it should be, I even spoke directly to EA about this and nothing was ever resolved.
Why cant chat be disabled? if this is the reason online interactions must be for over 18's then simply disable it for minors...Good Luck and happy gaming!
