You know, both of you guys are right at some point. Do you remember that everybody complained about how hard and importunate NFS Rivals cops were? So NFS 2015 came with totally lame cops that later also become a problem. Then Payback arrived with ‘controlled cops’ trying to be a little harder but only when requested by the gamer. NFS community then criticized that system because wanted cops all the time. So Heat appears with hard cops present all the time (at night on hard mode only) and as it seems people are getting back to Rivals complaints again.
There is no magic. Cops need to cause some trouble to the gamer or there won’t be any challenge. To be honest I like they are obliging us to be careful at night or adopting some strategy to succeed. However, I agree some things are irritating like the excessive rubberband from cops. You are driving at 350KMH (217 MPH) and deploy a powerful nitrous that leads you to almost 400KMH (248MPH) and the cop keeps up with you like nothing had been done (doesn’t matter which car cop is driving). Or you clearly make them go to a place where they should be lost or at least take some time to recovery and boom, they are instantly back to your track. Let’s say this is not cool and gives us the impression they are not from this planet. It would be much more interesting if the cops had a more natural behavior. They can be hard for sure, but not extraterrestrials.
With all that said, there’s something they should implement that would make this game ‘live forever’: playable cops. Yeah, that would be awesome even if on a separated menu in the game.
