Unfortunately I don’t think we will ever see the supra in the game as Toyota removed themselves from the franchise from my understanding. Think it has something to do with Gran Turismo and $$$$$ - Things I enjoy about Payback, in no particular order:
1) I actually enjoy the characters very much. Tyler is a little bit dry, but Jess and Mac are awesome.
2) I enjoy the special missions.
3) I enjoy the world of Fortune Valley. It's probably the best car map I've ever played.
4) Love the customization. Always have, always will.
5) It's fun to drive around the world just for the heck of it.
6) I actually like the upgrade system. Not that I would want it in every game, but it's kinda fun. [Puts on flame-retardant suit]
7) Love the car list and love the different classes you can build cars into.
8) Love the abandoned car finds/chases.
9) Love the derelict builds
10) Love that the cops are actually challenging Cool a thread on the good stuff. I like.
Well i agree with others, i really like the map. Having the diverse landscape is really cool to cruise around in . Plus the Ghost team did their research as the map is very similar to the real life landscape. Its true have a look at some of these real life shots. You can see the visual style and details are similar.
desert roads
forest area highway
These cabin have the same style.
There is more but you get the point . The map details are the best thus far IMHO.
I to like the story. I mean i wasn't going into the game thinking it was going to be a Grammy winning story .It kept me involved and it was good enough for what was need. Plus it leave the door open for further stories. I like it
I like the car list as well. It has enough to keep one going for awhile. I got 230 hrs in game and im still tweaking only 15 of the 75 cars still. It works well with OCD customization folk like my self lol. By the time im settled on all 75 cars its going to be a lot of hours in .
I am 90 % cool with the customization aspect as its is indeed more detailed then 2015 . Im still sulking about the rim , tire and rake thing but il leave that to the other post i made in regards.
The sound is another plus i like. I do enjoy my sound and have built my setup to take full advantage of gaming sound. Lots of surround panning and use to immerse you into the wprld. Plus It is a small thing but to me i am impressed they pushed some center channel engine lfe into the subs like it should be. 2015 engine sounds were to center channel oriented and no center channel speaker can carry LFE effects like a sub so it was a bit lacking in the bottom end. Payback carries more into the subs and thats a nice touch indeed.
Thats my main list of things i like. Good post all , nice to see.
- I agree about the customization keeping me entertained... a lot of people are complaining the game is too short. HA! I have countless hours invested in the game, own 21 cars, haven't even begun to customize some of them, and I am only halfway through chapter 3.
Anyone who complains the game is too short is only racing and nothing more. You are correct when you say the many are only racing and just blowing through the game . Then they start with a big opinion on the game even though they barely scratched the surface. Kind of like reading only the first chapter of a book then saying its to short and not very good. Not everyone here is like that but there is many that are. I still stand by my statements that there is stuff that isn't great ( cough speed cards ) in the game but I also give credit to what is done well too. This is why i like this post. Its a nice break from the usual complaining else where.
- I really like the need for speed payback
Ghost did some great graphics on the game i love the landscape very much and i race trough fortune valley every minut i can
The tuning and custimization is awesome for many years this was not possible in the series really happy it came back in nfs 2015.
Characters i don't like so much
Me myself i love the underground era the most.
And i personaly like it when the story is based around the player and not a character.
What i would like to see in a future game is the graphics from payback but the story based around you as a player.
Many people complain about the story mode in nfs 2015 and yes is was cheesy
but if they make it more realistic in a future game i think less people will complain and they can make a best seller game.
In Ghost We Trust
Keep up the good work ^^^ Good point about character vs. player stories - I hadn't thought of it before but that is a key difference.
Commenting in general: I get that NFS2015 has a great atmosphere, and that some people prefer the visuals from that game better, but in terms of content there's no comparison.
In NFS2015 I felt like I would race, customize, race, customize... without a lot of other activities in-between... I suppose I could go collect donuts and find photo spots (which were all pretty much sucky locations anyway)... I would struggle to find races that I hadn't already completed even early on in the game. The world had character... but it was relatively empty. Daily challenges were sometimes fun, sometimes frustrating because they would require a substantial amount of playtime that I didn't always have.
In Payback on the other hand, at any given time I can choose to race, or do a bait crate, or do a runner mission, or smash billboards, or hunt derelicts, or chase stars for shipments, or do speedcross, or take photos, or customize, or....
THAT'S the biggest difference and biggest improvement of one over the other, IMHO.- True payback have more to do
The open world is much better and bigger
And now with the Alldrive Hangout update you can hangout with your friends.
And the photo mode is awesome made some really awesome pictures.
and ofcourse unlimited car slots best thing they ever did.
And i really like the police chases they put in remind me on the Most Wanted 2005 days
