Wheel support ?
Hi, Will there be any steering wheel support for this game ? I have the Logitech G923. And was wondering if I could play it with this wheel ? Thanks
But it has gamepad support for sure?
So it does support already DirectInput?
So if it does support directinput - a wheel should be no problem since these are DirectInput Devices too.
For the system there is no difference between joystick, gamepad or wheel. All three devices are a "directinput" device.
So I dont exactly see why a game with gamepad support wouldnt work with a wheel?
Can you explain maybe?
But honestly: Imagine putting out a racing game without wheel support.
Thats honestly very embarrassing, especially considering what a huge company you are.
Quality of your games degraded a lot compared to the past.
Also why games are always rushed to release?
I remember NFS Hot Pursuit 2 from 2002.
It was planned to have Night and also Weather. But NOOO it was dropped because of the damn limited time given.
WHY? WHY rush a game out which would've been so much better if given more time. This is so disappointing by the companies, unbelievable...
@-TRR-De-M-oN A wheel has to be programmed into the game as a controller or it won't work correctly. Just because a gamepad works doesn't mean a wheel will work, not the same thing. You can try and make it work with a controller emulator like x360ce, but you might not get all the features and the force feedback is iffy. There is no reason this game should be released with no wheel support considering the original game had it. I have the original and don't plan on buying this "improved" garbage they are trying to sell without wheel support. Eye candy alone doesn't make a good game. EA is catering to the game consoles and doesn't care about the PC gamer anymore.
@4Northstar Yes and no.
It is the same thing.
The difference is DirectInput vs XInput though.
So: The only exception is if you support only XInput (which is e.g. used by xbox 360 controller)
Wheels usually require DirectInput though.
If DirectInput is supported, you can use a wheel. The only thing which needs manually addition is the force feedback.
If the game can do only XInput - yeah then its another story...
Supporting only XInput is laziness though. Because its easier to program it. But also by far less features than directinput has.
But what we have unfortunately know about EA. They love laziness and also rushed released games. The latter we saw already back in 2002 with NFS HP2. PC version was planned to have night and weather - but instead of giving it the time for it, they dropped these features just to release the game in time. Its awful. We players totally would have preferred to wait longer for the game if it then has more features instead of dropped features
I hate it that the publishers do force the release times ...
Wow such bad news there is no wheel support for a RACING game. A racing game that released ten years ago with wheel support. Wtf ea. Im glad i finally came here for the answer so i can forget about this game. Dirt 5 it is. Ea blocked my emails asking about support and stellar wouldn't answer me they directed me to email ea. Ea once again proving why its one of the worst companies in the world. Also i disagree that the handling was bad, anyone playing online on ps3 was left in the dust. We took pictures of our wheels for our profile so controller players knew they lost to a "bad handling wheel." Need for speed isnt for wheels is just ignorant.
