Restricted to 800x600 after first session

If I raise my game display resolution beyond 800x600 NFS: Hot pursuit crashes.

It worked fine @ 1920x1080 144Hz for the first session of play.

I figured it out. My firewall was blocking the registration of the game that links it to my Origin account halfway & that initiated (I presume) a software protection measure that nerfed the settings to 800x600 after one gaming session.

When I launch the game it immediately goes to background task & attempts to deliver a high load to the CPU.
I deleted Documents\Criterion Games\Need for Speed(TM) Hot Pursuit\config.NFS11Save & relaunched.
NFS runs fine @ 800x600 and rewrites config.NFS11Save at the default 800x600 resolution. If the display resolution is elevated in the game settings or the configutation application the game crashes as stated above.
How is it that the first run after installation with higher settings worked fine and now this?
Is anyone able to resolve this?

I think you need to download the game updates.

Are you launching the game via Origin? It does not seem so, I am not sure.

These files can be downloaded with the Origin Client. you can download Origin for PC here.

That's good to know. Actually I did not know a firewall or anti-virus could prevent someone from playing in a different resolution.
