Rhinos, Roadblocks & Spike Strips in Freeroam Police Pursuits

The first thing I would say with the game is it shouldn't tell us so clearly when a Rhino's coming - aside from the message
on the screen, it has a different icon on the map compared to the cops, so they're too easy to evade by taking a turn or
suddenly going offroad. Drop the message and the special icon (which can be said for spike strips too) and it will make us
focus more on the radio chatter, (which is awesome in itself by the way) and it will be more satisfying every time you
manage to make your escape.

  • On the other hand, especially when it comes to casual players, maybe there should be an easy/medium/hard option for how aggressive cops are and whether these messages should appear or not and also making the rewards according to difficulty.
    Easy = minimum reward & all HUD messages enabled / medium = standard reward & the messages turned off, only icons enabled /
    hard = bonus + all messages dropped, special icons are hidden or (the rhinos') look similar to usual cops, etc. In comparison, '05 MW and Carbon, beloved by many NFS fans for their police chases, didn't have any on-screen messages for incoming rhinos yet their icons showed up on the map. In my view, that was the perfect setting for the most of users and provided normal, balanced difficulty to the gameplay. And the damage received by a player from the police might also depend on the difficulty level. Something like this will balance it out... And leave both challenging and fun to play for any gamers.

  • However, it's not the only thing from the gameplay demos that should have been tweaked in my opinion. The last thing I would mention here is that the rhinos (and sometimes spike strips too) seem to appear very early and very often, even on the first heat levels. It would be more logical and realistic for them to appear only after gaining some noticeable amount of heat by a player during the chases, not initially at first minutes of every chase. It's not regular forces, I understand, but it's still too expensive and it takes some time to deploy all of that stuff. It can't appear anywhere just in two minutes. It's simply not enough.
    I also highly recommend to check out a topic, very similar to this that covers some more of these things:

    @PBYMEHTOBHATAHKE

    Thank you for featuring my board, it means a lot! You made some brilliant points here and I completely missed some of these, especially the completely unnecessary "RHINO INCOMING!" message that just feels irrelevant. Very impressed with all the points, most of all with the heat levels.

    Another point I should add is to your section about spike strips, don't know about you, but I'm not sure I want tyres to re-inflate like Payback and Rivals as well as my disagreement with how much damage they do. Thanks again, great post!
