Shift 2: Unleashed — "Activation limit for serial number exceeded".

Greetings, community!

So, I'm having this well-known problem with Shift 2: Unleashed, related to TAGES Solidshield DRM protection. I do have a copy of the game on both Steam and EA App and it's functional at all (they're the same). Since the EA Help chat support can't either answer accordingly nor find a solution when asked for, here I am.

What am I supposed to do? Shouldn't the EA Support reset my machine activation limit properly? If so, how do they do that, since there's any kind of "De-Authorization Tool" available for this title?

  •  I understand your concern regarding the activation linked to the serial number. This is the 20-character code that activates on your account when the game is registered. It's possible that there is a different code for the game on Steam and the EA app. I recommend using a registry cleaner of your choice to clear the system registry and reinstall the game through the EA app. If you encounter the same error afterwards, please reach out to the support team again and explain that you need assistance with Solidshield DRM activation.

Corrections: "[...] and it's not functional at all" and "[...] since there's no kind of".

Hey TheWill005 Have you also checked with the team the game version currently installed on your PC? Since you have it on both the EA app and Steam, make sure that you share the correct serial number when contacting the team. Repair the game on the EA app to verify the files and try again.

EA_Pulsar, well, both are 1.0.2.0 and I actually have both copies installed. The point is that I can't get someone who really understand my cause: reset my machine activation limit, in order to be able to use my serial number again. Repair the game does nothing, it's not a compatibility issue, it's a game activation issue. Some old EA games have this weird Solidshield DRM with machine activation limit. I just need someone who's able to reset the limit to 5.

So, the point is that I actually don't know my EA app copy code, since its nowhere to be found (I suppose). That copy suddenly appeared in my EA account in the Origin to EA app transition, I guess probably because I've done a login with my EA account in the Steam copy, I don't know exactly. As a matter of fact, I've assumed it's the same copy of Steam. Anyway, I'll ask for assistance to the support again. Thanks for your answer!
