SOLVED!! - Game crash after few minutes

Hello all,

I've got this game through the SimCity compansation action (big thumbs up EA!!, really nice gesture 🙂 ), but unfortunately haven't been able to play it ever since.

What happens is this: the non-skipable intro starts, all runs really smooth, I get control over the Aston Martin, drive towards the Porsche, jump into the Porsche and drive towards my first race. All goes well, no problems. Then, when I start the race, I see a short cut-scene, I get to drive 100 meters and the game freezes. Sometimes it crashes back to the desktop, with the message "NFS: Most Wanted stopped working", and sometimes it freezes my whole pc, forcing me to a hard-reset.

This happens every single time, always at the same point in the race. I have tried several "solutions", none of them worked.

What I tried:

- Disconnect 2nd monitor

- Offline mode Origin

- Disabled Origin In-Game

- Gave the nfs13.exe both "run as Admin" and "Compatibility mode: Windows Vista SP2"

- Disconnect all external devices except for X360 controller, mouse and keyboard

None of this worked and I'm now stuck with an unplayable game, wondering more and more why I chose this game instead of Medal of Honor...

Note: My drivers are up to date (driver update is always the first suggestion you get 🙂 )

tl;dr

Game always crashes at first race, same point every single time. Either crashes back to desktop, with "stopped working" message, or completely bricks pc, forcing hard reset. Drivers up to date.

My system:

Core i7 2600k

Gigabyte Z68X-UD3H-B3

16Gb RAM

Dual Nvidia GTX260 Core 216 in SLI

24" main screen, native resolution 1920*1200

I really hope someone can help me, I'm getting a bit clueless now...

Thanks in advance,

Koekemoeroetoe

This is how I solved the problem:

    - NOTE: Online functionality will be disabled, you'll still be able to play the entire game offline -

    1) Go to "documents/criterion games/need for speed most wanted

    2) Open the file "config.NFS13Save" with notepad or anything similar

    3) The third line says "LockTo30=false". Change this to: "LockTo30=true"

    4) Save the file (overwrite when asked)

    5) Start Origin, on the top left corner there is the menu with "Origin", "Friends" and "Help"

    6) Click "Origin" and choose "Go Offline" (third last choice down the dropdown list)

    7) Start NFS;MW and enjoy 🙂

  • Send a refund request to customer support and get Battlefield 3 instead, NFS MW is full of too many bugs unfortunately, ☹️

  • Not an option for me...

    BF3 - already own it

Mass Effect 3 - already own it

Simcity 4 - already own it

Plants vs zombies/bejeweled - are you serious?

    Dead Space 3 - don't want it

    MoHW - don't want it

    What I'm trying now:

    1) Deleted NFS:MW (normal uninstall, then manually all maps that remained)

    2) Clean my PC with CCleaner + registry repair

    3) Clean PC with MalwareBytes

    4) Re-download and reinstall NFS:MW

Game is still downloading, hoping that it will work now...

LockTo30, merely limits your FPS to 30, try disabling this after completing the first race, and if you still crash, then the issue is with the game.

  • I know what LockTo30 does.

Somehow it seems that when the game is able to produce more FPS it somehow becomes unstable and crashes. Also the Autolog feature makes the game unstable.

This clearly is a game problem, not a problem in my pc. This game should have never seen the daylight in this state. Something as unstable as this isn't even worth the status of "alpha build". And EA keeps wondering and wondering why so many people pirate their games. Open your eyes EA, people are fed up with paying sky high prices for games that probably won't even run flawless, if they run at all.

Oh, and don't come and argue that pirating is a lost sale. If I pirated the game and encountered problems like this, I would have deleted the game and never even think of reinstalling it, let alone buy it. You can only make one first impression, and this game made about the worst first impression you can imagine...

it worked for me on my toshiba tecra my specs r intel i7 4gb ram 232gb nvidia nvs with cuda graphics

  • Thx so much. I got this for free on origin on the house  (yes in the future EA gives games away for free, sounds impossible doesn't it) so I couldn't  really return it. At first the Lockto30 didn't work but then I did the Lockto30 in windowed mode and it worked fine. Thx so much, I can now have the game EA gave to me.

  • After this fix I started to get random crashes. If you get this then the best way of fixing it was to go into origin, right click the game and then click repair game. I like how EA have to put in a repair game option because they can't be bothered to fix the games bugs before release.
