THANK YOU rhettrogan!!! I made the changes you suggested (see below) and was FINALLY able to get in.
from the xbox like menu go to :
- settings
- account
- privacy & online safety
- view details and customise
- scroll across until u find " you can join multiplayer games " then block this option
After making this change I did get a warning from the Game (after clicking 'Play' in the menu) that my account settings prevent me from playing/joining multiplayer games (as expected considering the change) however at this point I DON'T CARE. Like all the other posters on here I simply wanted to play the game that I just spent $70+ on and was actually enjoying.
To EA Games, not that I expect this will make any impact but it needs to be said...like many others on here I am EXTREMELY disappointed by this and quite frankly I don't care what the "cause" or "issue" is/was! This is not the first time your code, that forces or requires someone to connect to your servers or enable some background multiplayer feature/ability, has prevented or negatively impacted gameplay. I believe Madden '15 had a very similar issue where you had to block connection back to your servers in order to be able to even start the game. To echo superwomble22's post, this experience will likely prevent me from purchasing any future released EA titled games and I will be sharing my experience and opinion with others. You should seriously consider releasing an update that gives users the option to setup/establish a multiplayer or online connection rather than simply requiring it and leaving gamers in the wind when things break. Btw, the response that is currently the 'Accepted Solution' at the beginning/top of this thread: "Just wanted to confirm that we're working with Microsoft to resolve the issue. They haven't provided us with an ETA but we encourage you to keep an eye on our social media channels over the week-end to keep updated."...what a joke!!! Passing the buck on Microsoft because the problem with YOUR GAME was timed with the release of their Xbox update and then encouraging folks to keep an eye on social media channels?!?!?! What kind of a BS response and support stance is that??? Once again, your lackluster support speaks volumes and should be leaving gamers with more to be desired. Funny, not a single one of my other apps or games experienced any problems after the update; just yours! Add to all this that the workaround which was ultimately provided by a community member (not your staff) and the nature of the workaround in my opinion clearly points the finger back at your game and what it's attempting to do; connect to your servers for a multiplayer experience (whether desired or not). Disappointing to say the least.
