I was just about to post about this. I hate starting races or trying to take pics with black scratches all over my car that I can't get rid of besides going back to the garage. Even going through gas stations doesnt get rid of the black scratches . Going into the photo mode theres a "bodywork damage" option. Turning that off does absolutely nothing.
I found out some sort of a workaround. I'm sure plenty have figured this out but I'm quite new to the game. So just gona share. When you go to any race it will ask if you wana switch cars just accept this and pic your exact same car in the menu. It will bring it undamaged.

Bummer really? I did try it only during the day. I've only been playing for 2 days. Figured you would have the same options. Thanks for clarifying.

It did not work for me when I switched to the same car and drive around for a little, the dirt and scratches still show up again on the car.
Also, they need to have an option to turn OFF the exterior damage permanently. Doesn't matter if you enter a race, exploring free-roaming around the map, drive at daytime or drive around nighttime. They just need to look at the example of GT Sport and Forza Horizon 4. I can drive straight into a wall in Horizon 4 and the car still looks brand new. Love it!- 6 years ago@DreamMachines There gona show up again once you start driving around. Especially if you hit the grass or go offroad. When you initially switch cars are the scratches gone? I do this trick prior to a race so when you get that little intro at the beginning you have a clean car like everyone else and yours isnt the only one at the racing line, filled with scratches. Also a good trick if your snapping pics right next to a race and can just clean her up.
