Thoughts on the game??

What is everyone's thoughts on this game then?  I bought this about a week or so ago and i like the customization and the whole performance upgrade selection and the engine swaps (although i dont like the whole race, offroad, drift, track set up), The rest of the game just seems to lack so much. There is nothing that really grips me like i have been with previous games.  Previously i would find myself playing need for speed for hours on end, Now you are lucky if i can play for any longer than an hour and a half without getting bored.  The campaign just felt so cringey, Unless there is a serious overhaul for future games i can see this being my last one.  I had such high hopes for this one and once again it was awful, NFS is dying a slow and painful death

  • @scambler94 I personally was thinking that the campaign was alright. Payback was full on cringe fest nog gonna lie. This game was better but super short.

    I like:

    - Race payouts are not difficulty dependent.

    - You still get a decent pay for not coming in first.

    - The story so far (Hopefully there will be more.)

    - Most car sounds, particularly the Viper, as it's one of my favorite cars.

And that's about it for me.

This will most assuredly be the last NFS that I ever play, as I do not like the direction that this or any other current racing games are going.

  • @scambler94 Heat is one of the biggest false advertised NFS ever.Gameplay is a BB ultramix without any sign of Back 2 the Root like CEO teased back in March 2019.Judging by post in the forum, broken unfinished buggy game as new entry again. However even 2 month after the game's release it's still buggy and unfixed.NFS2019 again treat custom as a core part of NFS with cars like Ferrari lack any non-official custom parts(F40LM/FXXK/458 GTE/488 GTE are all Ferrari race car kits so no)Gameplay is still recycling from previous games with overly-used hero cars return for the countless time and a new plothole.Story is still rubbish as hell with a heavy 2003-05 taste in it.If EA keep this style as the only NFS style I think this maybe the last official NFS mainline game we ever get. It's rubbish outdated and self-denial.EA isn't let NFS back to the roots, rather they let NFS chase a long-gone trend that nobody is doing anymore. If no classic real root style NFS in recent years,NFS2019 may become the finale of the series since it's already outdated and not unique or eye-catching in anyway.
  • I like that drift this time isn't mandatory to progress through the campaign, but hate the big hitches. At least it's mostly limited to what appears to be stat assets loading, like when you cross the finish line, but a clear sign of a blatant lack of polish just the same.

Another frustration for me is cop takedowns and escapes after doing so. I have no trouble escaping during or after races, but by the time I so much as takedown one cop, one or two more are swarming me and doing serious damage to my car. I pause to the map to put a waypoint on a nearby gas station to repair, but then I'm often left with the task of losing them. I have found certain jumps work well for this, but I can never seem to find one on the map (if they even show at night) when I need one. It's like if there isn't one thing causing problems with takedowns followed by escapes, it's another, as if they're trying to annoy you vs letting you have fun with the game.

The daytime feels too easy by comparison, being easily able to win events well above my performance rating. So the game comes off feeling schizophrenic, a sort of Jekyll and Hyde. The shame is the graphics look pretty good, it's just that they feel wasted on poor execution elsewhere. Lastly, not something I normally nit pick about, but what is up with the decals? Such a crappy selection and the way to install them is even worse. It's hard as hell to know what they're going to look like and it probably isn't going to be very good anyway.

My opinions of certain things may very well change once I get to know the game better, but as we all know, first impressions count a lot toward a game's reception, and so far, for me, it's definitely failing at that. Not often do I repeat the words "God I hate this game", before I even know it well, but it's my inclination when I see such bad design.
