@EA_AtaashiReally.....An article especially on story.I really miss when racing games are just games about racing not story and development of characters. Please EA regain sense, this series is called Need For Speed not Need For Story.TV series and movies already fill the need for story nowadays. Please be sensible and bring back real root of a pure race/chase NFS next time.Well, if there is no story, i get bored, racing, killing (depending on the type of game obviously) if there is no story behind it....i get bored fast.
PvP....boring, PvE without a story will keep me occupied for maybe 2 hours.....which is normally enough time to find the car i like and to experience every single race.
Stories, especially those that are done well can last me months, maybe years if there were branching stories in the game, which this doesn't have, unless i am mistaken.

Yeah I think most single player games work best when they have a story. If you're just playing multiplayer then yes you can forget about a story as your mainly doing stuff with friends but in SP modes story is essential. Even sports games have stories the only difference is in games like Fifa it's a story you create as it's all about your player/ manager and what you achieve in your career. I have bought Heat for myself as a Christmas present but yeah I must admit I'm looking forward to exploring this story for myself when I get round to playing it.
- 6 years ago@sjsharp2010 But if we treat Heat's story as a story itself, then it's normal but not a must, however when considering the returning story cars in Heat from older games then it will certainly cause plotholes(same with 2015/Payback with their returning cars)If we dont count these new games, even old Blackbox games contain plotholes themselves(For example how M3GTR became protagonist's car, where is the Darius Supra from Carbon Prologue)If story itself can't be flawless in setting and story-telling,then it's better to let go of the story totally

So what? Keeps the game interesting. Many nfs games had some type of story that didn't affect gameplay. Burnout is still good and has no story but it has its own perspective. The game is still keeping the qualities that it should. And dont compare this game to old titles. That was black box. We have Ghost games with frostbite engine. So it's best to have an open mind and not complain over something stupid such as you not caring of story.
- 6 years ago@hunterxx91 Heat itself cotains too much Blackbox style in it.Also before Blackbox did UG1,NFS wasn't a story-based game. The only classic era NFS with legit characters was Porsche Unleashed and that was more history based game for the exclusive deal between EA/Porsche.Before Heat was launched EA stated NFS2019 is a back to the root game. And back in 90s NFS lacked such story to push the gameplay forward like Heat did again this year.So clearly EA is doing false advertisement and Ghost is still chasing the Black Box style gameplay 16 years after story mode became a thing in NFS series.
