What a Disapointment

I SOOOO wanted this game to be good. so much so that i used my last $80 to buy the deluxe edition so i could play a day early, i have never been so disappointed with a game, i decided to play the single player before even trying the multiplayer, 20 hours later, i was finally done with just an awful and boring story mode. and much to my surprise there isnt even a proper multiplayer mode which i was hoping would save my opinion of the game. How are you going to charge $60 for game without proper multiplayer, this is sad, and releasing games like this just shouldn't be allowed in the industry. this game is not worth $60 let alone $80, i only have 20 hours into this game, and i was already bored 10 hours in. anyone who is able to find more then 20 hours of enjoyment in this game is a saint. Lets look at some of my most played games as examples.

Elite Dangerous, $30 game, which i have 600 hours in.

Kerbal Space Program $40 and goes on sale alot, 230 hours(Much more outside of steam),

Ark: Survival Evolved, which in the end i don't think is all that great of a game, i have 140 hours in,

GTA 5: i don't have an exact number, but i can tell you for a fact i have played more then 250 hours of it, most of that time spent racing.....

i LOVE racing games but this need for speed was just a awful cash grab of a game. to put it simply, i wont be playing another need for speed game unless i get it for free.

this is the first and only time i have felt so betrayed by a game/Developer. i have never really subscribed to the belief that EA is "greedy and evil", but im starting to see it now.

  • Hey Kamekazi141, I agree with you on the greed part.  Corporate greed is why there is so much * going on in the world. We don't build for the world, most build for themselves and don't share it because they feel so entitled - this philosophy is making its way into every aspect of our lives - look at the microtransactions issue with Battle Front.  How much can we take for the shareholders - it is not about you or me anymore but greed.

With that said, I am having fun passed 50 hours.

I just paid only $35 during black friday sale. I would never pay more than that for this game. NFS 2015 is much better. Payback is like a kids game and have poor graphics. I dont care much about the free roam.

Personally, I feel there is nothing wrong with micro-transactions in this game. They don't progress you. They are all vanity items and money. You can also choose not to buy them like all of the other games out there. How else do you expect a gaming company to make money? The games are getting more expensive to make yet the price of the games stay flat. This is simple economics here. Micro-transactions provide revenue for the gaming companies. These people claiming its gambling is stupid and they have obviously never gambled before. This isn't about shareholders its about an industry trying to make money to fund their staff and to make other games. Just because a company may break even by selling a game does not mean they make a profit.

  • I'm with you on this one. While a lot of the new elements might work in the free to play space on mobile, this is a full-priced game. I've loved NFS since the 3D0, but I've skipped the last three console iterations. I really wanted to enjoy Payback. When devs teased how gamers could now pause in-game, I thought, "hey, they're listening to the fans. This one might be good". And no. That's all they listened to the fans on.

Stop trying to milk more money out of consumers with this over-gamification of progression.

EA: Give NFS a year or two off, figure out what made the best-selling NFS titles awesome, and build on that. If you reach the alpha stage and your accountants are happier with the game than your QA folks, scrap it and start over.
