What changes can we expect from HP2010 Remastered?

As the topic outlines, I'm somewhat skeptical of the announcement that was recently released, so I figured we could make a comprehensive list here and update it as and when needed! Speculation is fine too, but I'm sure there will be many, many more topics covering all of this anyway.

Car list:

Doesn't appear to have changed much, with the exception of the removal of the Carbon Motors E7, Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren 722 edition, and Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Stirling Moss! (Thanks to @TheRealJony for this!)

However, the DLC looks like it will be included, so technically those on PC will have the opportunity to use cars previously inaccessible. Can be found here for anyone interested:https://www.ea.com/en-gb/games/need-for-speed/need-for-speed-hot-pursuit-remastered/news/nfs-hp-remastered-car-list

Graphics:

Apparently, it will run up to 4K/60 FPS, with "higher-res models, shadows, and reflections, more objects and props, longer draw distance, boosted textures, more particles, and improved AA/SSAO." Although whether it's much of an improvement or not in real world terms is certainly subjective...

Release date:

November 6th for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, and November 13th for Nintendo Switch surprisingly.

Expanded customization? (Not on the level seen in non-HP genre games, of course)

"(Brand new) wraps and car colours."

Miscellaneous changes and quality of life improvements etc include:

  • Cross-play between platforms.
  • All the additional main DLC delivered at launch, hopefully this includes the DLC exclusive online modes too!
  • An extra six hours of gameplay, with over 30 extra challenges. There's a catch though, speculation suggests that it could just be the DLC content added-on rather than brand new events.
  • Brand new achievements.
  • Reduced hard stops, which intrigues me considering there was a Burnout style crash cam and quite a few walls which can't exactly be reduced outside of complete removal.
  • An updated photo mode and gallery, which I suspect may take a similar form to that of the snapshot sharing system under GHOST, or more likely pick up from where the Autolog photos element on the menu wall left off.
  • And more (unspecified) quality of life improvements.

Overall, I'm not entirely sure whether I'll buy it at present... Although cross-play will resurrect the almost completely extinct online scene of the previous generation, I'm not sure whether this is enough to make me choose the remaster over my original PS3 copy.

  • My main two things are

    1.  Will the original soundtrack be there?  (maybe new ones to go along)  If so, id like to be able to do what you could do in the underground games and undercover which is go through each individual one and turn them off or on or for certain areas only.

    2. I understand if this isn't possible, but while I still (and always will) have the OG pc version (thank god I have all the games from shift to run 2, etc on disk before ea stopped that) and have some solid times.  I'll be getting the ps4 version so I can have it on consoles, but could I log in to my ea account in that and unlock my times to try and beat them on the console, or will I have to create new ones on my sony account?

To answer your first question, I do remember the ability to do that, but I'm not sure it was in HP2010. I believe this feature ("EA Trax") was present under Black Box developed NFS games, rather than Criterion's or GHOST's. Although, I do remember Burnout Revenge on the PS2 (Criterion) featuring it. Either way, I don't remember having the ability to do so in the original HP2010 at all.

For your second, there's already another topic with that exact question concerning whether we'd be able to transfer progress or Autolog times etc to next gen. Much like you, I've got some decent times on my PS3 copy and it would be nice to keep them intact if I do decide to buy the remaster. It hasn't got a proper answer or response yet, but most of us believe it's unlikely to happen sadly.

@zracer71 OST wont be changed compared to the original launched game. But HP2010 HD wont have ability to change OST individually.Just like original HP2010.
  • They should give a plus to this remastering. They must honor the origin of what is now Need for Speed Hot Pursuit. They could include The Need for Speed, NFS II SE, NFS III Hot Pursuit and NFS IV High Stakes racetracks with today's graphic power and some cars from those games. This is all the original base concept of Need for Speed.

  • @orlanc First all these NFS you've mentioned had MFG tracks.Second remastered games are HD version of original,if these Distinctive NFS get HD version,EA will have to let new people use the long gone engine, third cars and music may still suffer from license problem like HP2010 HD itself. So these games aren't possible for a complete remaster too.
