Only NFS 2015 (NFS Reboot) and certain free-to-play NFS games like NFS World and NFS No Limits are online-only NFS games. The rest of the NFS games (including NFS Unbound) have single-player story offline modes in them.
You should be able to play NFS Unbound offline with no problems. 🙂
