Bad performance after changing graphics settings in the menu

Product: Need for Speed: Unbound
Platform:PC
Summarize your bug Whenevery going into the Graphics menu and changing anything that doesn't need confirmation, afterwards, performance is bad (low FPS) with low CPU and GPU uttilization
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Drive on the map in single player, note performance. Go into the graphics menu and change an option, then back out and drive on the map again.
What happens when the bug occurs? Low FPS, FPS drops, hard to drive races due to this
What do you expect to see? Same performance as before (if settings are same of course)

Workaround: change setting. Exit game, re-enter, don't touch the graphics menu. All will be fine.

Hey, @NLxAROSA  can you try a clean boot to see if any programs are messing with NEED FOR SPEED™ Unbound and turn off any overlay programs, such as Discord or Nvidia experience.

Can you add a Dxdiag so we can see what hardware and drivers you have?

Let me know if this works or not for you. 🙂

@gagugamer how full is your SSD or HDD? If they are full than there is big possibility that it stutters because of this. Fixes can be remove some stuff to get some more space. After that optimize your SSD or defrag your HDD. If this is not the case than don't bother doing either of these.
  • Nah, I installed FIFA 23 on my ssd yesterday and its working flawlessly. On Saturday there was driver update for Nvidia, played 2-3 hours on Saturday and Sunday. On Monday this pop up comes up to update game and it starts hanging after that.

  • @EA_Atic I’ll try disabling all overlays later today. Will also run a dxdiag, though last one I ran looked clean.

Btw does the game have a way to benchmark so I can check performance without any overlays active?
  • My CPU was on 100% and GPU was just 4%. I reverted back to previous version of my GPU drivers 527.36 for Nvidia. It worked. My CPU was on 100% and GPU was just 4%.

  • @EA_AticTurned off all overlays, and I don't seem to have massive FPS drops anymore after changing settings, though obviously I can't really tell now without any overlay. Did feel stable though. BTW, the only overlay I had active was the Nvidia one. dxdiag output attached, looks clean to me, but feel free to comment on any weird things in there.
