For anyone having this issue try updating your Xbox One controller firmware and see if it comes back. I don't have the game nor an Xbox One (or newer) controller to test it but according to this twitter post https://twitter.com/notdeoxide/status/1600051494287466496 it has been solved by updating the controller firmware.
