DX12 Error
Hi Guys, having a bad time with your new NFS Game. Unfortunately my game crashs during Gameplay with the attached DX12 Error. Error comes 100% after about 1 to 8 Minutes of gaming. I am running the...
Solution that worked for me.
AMD Ryzen 9 5900x
AMD Raedon 6700XT
Win 10 until now
First I flashed my bios to the newest version. Took me about 20 Minutes if M-Flash (usb stick).
Now I deleted the 2x dx12 files (shadercache in steam games directory and c:user:nfs-unbound directory)
After That I downloaded the AMD cleanup utility tool and the ccleaner (test version).
Also the AMD GPU Driver 22.11.2 (that was a mistake, even when NFSU is now supported, it lagged like hell in the game with this driver)
---> use 22.5.1 (1 before 22.11.2)
Now I started AMD cleanup utility tool
--> Tool restarts pc in WIn 10 Safety mode. After that all amd drivers will be removed.
--> after that I installed and used cc cleaner (i had no internet connection in safe mode, but i didn´t need it)
I cleared the whole registry with all amd files (i cleared everything, but my pc is still runing...)
Now i press windows+r key and typed "msconfig".
There I choosed "start" and deselected "safe mode". Then I confirmed this.
After that I restarted the pc in normal mode and installed amd 22.5.1 driver.
That´s it for me. I didn´t crashed in the third race like I always did. Im now for 2 hours in the game without a crash and did already 5 race events.
Perhaps that helps someone. I tried nearly everything, but this helps until now
AMD Ryzen 7 5600x
AMD Raedon RX 6700 XT
Win 10
I did everything just as you wrote here, however it felt like this made it even worse for me, because the game crashed after only 30 seconds in the loading screen for multiplayer and always at least within a few minutes of starting the game with the same Error.
My game has some extra quirks i haven't heard from anyone:
At first after instaling the game my Xbox Controler (latest software version) didn't work with NFS. The 4 buttons behaved like my d-pad, the menu-button was the A-button and the view-button was the B-button (didn't have this problem in any other game or any Platform). So i switched to my older Xbox Controler wich worked totaly fine.
However after a few hours of playing with the chrashes, the leftstick of my older Controler suddenly moved the camera and wheels while i was driving.
I then switched back to my new controler wich worked fine from then on. The weird thing about this is, that i could play for 3 straight hours in that session with no crash and the longest duration besides that was at most 1,5 hours.
I have no idea if that was just a coincidence or if it really had something to do with my controler.
New NVIDIA Drivers!
GeForce Experience cant optimise the game, and it still crashes albeit it takes a lot longer to crash. Tenuous as to who's problem this is? But either way I am out tomorrow if nothing from EA or no communication!
Haha. For me the new Nvidia Driver makes things even worse. Now I have stuttering in addition to the crashes too 🤣🙃
Well f*ck that. I wanted a new system months ago anyways. Today I bought a new Board, Processor and RAM.
I will see if that fixes the error. If not my Power Supply might be crap.
I am sure you can afford it, but you are investing way to much money into getting this game working. The stuttering will go away or at least it should, if you delete the DX12 file from your shader cache!
Try out Portal RTX its amazing, and will test your system!
I think I am done with this game, its too much effort, too much wasted time and EA clearly do not care! As I said, closing my Pro-Sub tomorrow if nothing is said by EA. I have posted on the NVIDIA forum too.
