OK, so here are two very odd workarounds that I just found out.
Workaround 1: Run EA app as admin even though it has admin rights. Then launch the game NOT from the Installed games tile button and NOT from the bigger "Play" button. Go to "Library" then launch from the tile button on the bottom right corner of the square card thing under "Installed". See the attached "Untitled-0" image.
Workaround 2: Run EA app as admin even though it has admin rights. Then follow the process of preparing the game files and when you get the pop-up dialog box with the "Launch" and "Dismiss" options click on Launch instead of running it from somewhere else. See the attached "Untitled-1" image.
Check if this helps. Any other way to launch it still doesn't work.
