Manual transmission not working in a race

I have a thrustmaster wheel and shifter set up that works perfect when Im driving around the city. Once I join a race, the car barely moves and glitches out like the brake is being pumped and non of the gears work. How hasn't anyone found a solution to this? I read this happening to others but no solution. Im on PS5
