Hello EA_cuervo ,
I’m having severe, recurring crashes every 3–5 minutes while playing Need for Speed Unbound as reported in this ticket: NFS Unbound Crashing. The game will either freeze or crash to desktop, often showing a DirectX-related error mentioning GetRemovedDeviceReason. In some cases, my PC even experiences kernel-level errors and forced reboots but actually the game is crashing without errors. This not only completely disrupts gameplay but also raises serious concerns about potential long-term damage to storage devices—especially NVMe drives.
System & Troubleshooting
My rig exceeds the recommended specifications, so it should be running the game smoothly. To date I’ve tried:
- Reinstalling and repairing the game via both EA App and Steam
- Cycling all in-game graphics presets (Low ↔ Ultra)
- Verifying and reinstalling all Visual C++ Redistributables
- Swapping/testing hardware components
- Updating BIOS, Windows, GPU drivers (clean install) and all other system drivers
- Deleting graphics cache (DXCache, NVIDIA folders)
- Reinstalling the latest DirectX runtime
- Reviewing Event Viewer logs for related errors
- Checking firewall and antivirus for interference
Despite all of these steps, the same DirectX “GetRemovedDeviceReason” crash persists.
Technical Details & Offer of Logs
I’m an electronic engineer and have performed extensive diagnostics, including DxDiag/MSInfo, crash dumps, and log analysis. I’m happy to share any or all of these files if it helps the Dev Team pinpoint and fix the root cause.
Request
Can we escalate this to the developers? I would greatly appreciate direct support or a hotfix to address this critical stability issue.
If an official fix isn’t possible, I’ll have no choice but to request a refund, as the game is currently unplayable under any acceptable conditions.
Thank you in advance for your time and assistance. I look forward to any guidance or a potential patch to get the game running reliably again.
