NFS Unbound Crashing – "GetRemovedDeviceReason" DirectX Error
Hi,
I'm experiencing consistent crashes while playing Need for Speed Unbound. The game either freezes or crashes to desktop, often with a DirectX-related error mentioning GetRemovedDeviceReason. I’ve seen others face similar problems, but I haven’t found a working solution yet.
My system exceeds the recommended requirements, and performance should be smooth. I’ve tried an extensive list of troubleshooting steps, including:
- Reinstalling the game
- Repairing the game through EA/Steam
- Changing all in-game graphics settings (low to ultra)
- Verifying and reinstalling Visual C++ Redistributables
- Swapping and testing hardware components
- Updating BIOS and Windows
- Checking Event Viewer logs
- Deleting graphics cache files (like DXCache/NVIDIA folders)
- Updating GPU drivers (clean install)
- Updating all other system drivers
- Checking firewall and security software for interference
- Reinstalling DirectX (latest version)
Despite all of this, the game continues to crash with the same error. I’m happy to provide detailed logs, system information (DxDiag, MSInfo), crash dumps, or anything else that might help resolve the issue.
Please let me know how we can proceed—I'd love to get this fixed and enjoy the game without constant interruptions.
Thanks, CloudCore9.
