PC Controller Mapping incorrect and unplayable

So i got my controller to work (kind of) however the B button on my Xbox controller does not go back it actually selects items just like the A button. then when i am driving the steering moves my camera. I put it into steam and it gets rid on the camera moving but now it glitches on steering and it jumps like it is going to change the view but then goes right back behind the car. i have grown up with the need for speed games and i was super excited to play this game. at 70 bucks it should at least be playable. i am very frustrated at this point.
