I have the same problem, I run the game via Steam, EA App shows up and that's it. It doesn't work... I'm disappointed because I wanted to get this title but I will have to return it.

  • I had the same issue today. I tried out a few changes. But in the end what worked for me was to remove (or in my case simply zip and rename) the folder "qmlcache" in the folder %localappdata%\Link2EA\cache. Afterwards i was able to start the game from steam.

In addition to that I added before hand manually the EADesktop.exe and the game .exe (like "<steamlibrary>\common\Excalibur\NeedForSpeedUnbound.exe") in the windows firewall as exception (both were not explicitly in my list beforehand)

  • What helped me was clearing the EA app cache, as this forced EA to upgrade versions on my relaunch.

    thanks,

    Nathan

I have the same problem, I buy and install then run the game via Steam, EA App shows up and that's it. It doesn't work after that.

So what should i do for fix that. please EA team, help me for this issue, also you guys if has some issue and can fix it.

  • You have to be logged in the EA app. Open the EA app and see if you need to log in again. I was disconnected and couldn't launch the game, log in the app again and now it's starting without any problem

  • cpu: ryzen 5

    gpu: rtx 3060 ti 8gb

    ram: 16 gb

    disk space available: 400gb

    operating system: windows 10 pro

tried login ea and start the game - not helping

tried app recovery to clear cache - not helping

tried running game on administrator - not helping

tried disable and re-enable the game through firewall - not helping

tried uninstalling and re-installing the game - worked

but now not working again. i'm tired to wait for another few hours to uninstall and re-install just to play. Hello EA Games, any other method can you help with?

    update:

tried running from ea app - not working

tried running from steam - not working

tried running from the steam library folder itself - not working

tried running from nvidia app - worked

let's see what's gonna happen tomorrow.

    update:

today is the next day. why am i not surpirsed, the app refused to start from nvidia app

but i came acorss this ea site: https://help.ea.com/en-gb/help/ea/ea-app/close-background-apps/

all the methods it suggest just explain how weak the app is and many of them implies you need a superb skill to browse through the task manager and identify each name for each program so you can shut them down

but the last point, just scroll to the bottom of the page and read the "Origin" point. It only mention slightly about cross-apps may cause the game to not run properly so i try it.

    - i exited nvidia, steam, ea app and open ea app only and start nfs from there. - worked

a new day, a new start, tried all the working and not working methods, they are all not working today (except reinstall the game). it's really frustrating especially EA actually marked this as solved issue which clearly all the bros here (and even on youtube) are complaining the smae issue

  • @chongdouglas I've had the exact same problem! I downloaded the game via Steam for the first time a day ago and was able to launch it after download.

The next day, I try to launch the game, and get the loop of the EA App "Preparing Game" window. It then flashes the main EA App window for a brief moment, before the Stop button in Steam becomes Play again.

Tried doing everything in this thread. The thing that ended up working was to launch the .exe directly from the Excalibur folder.

Will try your solution as well. Thanks so much for posting it in such detail!

@danielmaxsteel this worked for me, but still why tf would anyone have to fix a game for it to properly work... but we all know EA.

Still having this issue and its unbelievable. I press Play on Steam, it opens the EA Launcher first then the Stop button on Steam reverts to Play. I'm truly getting tired of struggling to open a game that I rightfully paid for. This has been happening for several weeks now, when it didn't before. I will be periodically returning to this forum for updates.

Just got off a chat with EA customer support regarding this issue, and the customer service was absolutely terrible. Upon stating this issue to her, she gave me an irrelevant solution to my problem, then proceeded to leave the chat when I told her that I've tried those already and they aren't relevant to my issue. And from what I could tell, she couldn't speak proper english, which isn't the issue, but to solve complex problems like these, why would EA outsource their workers to the point where they don't care about their jobs? As I've stated before, I am rightfully upset that I am unable to play a game that I paid full price for, just because EA needs authorization before launch. No other company does this, why is it always EA? I always seem to be giving them the benefit of the doubt, but proof of their poor business models keep getting thrown back in my face.

I've tried it all, uninstalling the game, uninstalling the EA App, clearing all cache including Steam, EA App, and game files, launching from AMD, and deleting the P0 DCX (something or other i can't remember the specific name) in the "shadercache" file inside the NFS Unbound game files (named Excalibur). Absolutely nothing has been proven to be a definite solution that renders this problem fixed. If it opens one day, it doesn't the next. And in some cases, like now, it won't open no matter what.

I paid FULL PRICE for this game, I should be able to play it whenever I please. And EA customer service is borderline disrespectful to their consumers. As a customer, I am very upset.

I too got an issue starting this game from Steam. Fixed it by going to EA app- Settings- Download- Install Location and change it to where your game was installed (ex. C:/Steamlibrary/steamapps/common/Excalibur). Excalibur is the name of this game.

I played a match in the afternoon. And I grab my dinner and watched a video. I want to play another match, boom.

The game cannot run regardless of me trying all methods found online for 2 hours.
