Help me understand: AI Goalies in Rookie/Pro/Sem-Pro

So, let me start by acknowledging the good.  Goalie AI is improved, and many of the cheaper exploit goals are not as automatic.

HOWEVER, after a hundred or so HUT games on all different skill levels... I have noticed a change..

The goalies are now "GOD Mode" in higher skills levels, fine, lower scores, find what works, etc.

BUT, the goalies AI doesn't seem to be much different or "worse", even in the two lowest skill levels!!??

You'll have to trust that I know this game inside and out, and I am talking about getting stonewalled by 65 OVR goalies on countless QUALITY scoring chances on Rookie & Semi-Pro.

EA Devs, well done overall on the AI Goalie upgrades, but please consider backing it down a bit on low skill levels, shouldn't be this hard to score on NEWB skill settings.

Same applies to a lesser degree for AI defense, they're a little to good at positioning, stopping 99% of cross creases, magically blocking chances in open lanes, etc.

While we're at  it, why do high skill players, say Auston, consistently fail to hit top corners on open wristers, and why does it feel like this year all my players are actually aiming for the defensemen, even when there are clear open shooting lanes, they manage to plunk the Dman instead of properly aiming!

Thanks for listening!

  • I’m finally throwing in the towel

I’m an offline “Be a Pro” player, I’m not the best and I’m not the worst

CPU goalies under all modes are frustratingly good

There’s no way to truly emulate the real-life game in “Be a Pro” mode and I understand that, but standard CPU goaltending skills shouldn’t be so unrealistic that I can’t enjoy the game

I’ve been a loyal customer since the mid-90’s

Thanks for ruining the experience EA

    Extremely disappointed ex-EA NHL sub

@thefirstdrop1 Thing is people whined and complained about goalies letting in some of the goals that they fixed a little too well. But funny thing is people on these forums complain the goalies aren't good enough.

And people wonder certain changes happen or don't. Lol

At the end of the day, EA shouldn’t bog itself down with game adjustments that ruin the general subscriber experience, and based on the commentary in these threads, that’s exactly what they did

Devote time to fixing glitches that slow down or hamper gameplay, and spend less time catering a user experience to the top 5% of users who play the game
