What would that be?
You had the chance to change one of the core gameplay mechanics.
Revamp the whole system of..
Skating?
Shooting + 1 timers?
Hitting + body physics ?
Passes?
Deking?
AI + goalies?
Puck physics + stick physics?
* If nothing above feels interesting and you just want a complet make-over regarding the presentation, then please say so.
And the one thing you choose to change will magically turn into perfection on another level, were the feeling in that mechanic will give you instant goosebumps every time you use it. As it was taken directly from the real world.
Where would you put your vote?
Whats the one thing mechanics that's most importen for you to make the game feel like hockey..
The skating.
The vast majority of the problems with this game (online) are due to the skating. Players accelerate way too fast, and have way too much agility. They have no weight to them, like real players do.
The ridiculous skating is responsible for all the figure skating and puck ragging, and why this game plays more like soccer - with all the uninterrupted puck possession and regrouping.
It is why there is almost no forechecking and why 99% of higher level eashl and 1 v 1 players use a ridiculous and passive 0-5 trap. The puck carrier can escape any pressure with ease because of the skating, so forechecking is almost impossible.
It is why power plays don't feel at all like power plays, as the power play players are constantly taking up each other's space and penalty killers can cover way too much ice way too quickly, so there is no realistic puck movement.
I think the skating is even at least partially responsible for the wrap exploit, as the puck carrier can cut out from behind the net at too high a speed at too sharp of an angle.
