@EA_AljoThat's what I do. It does NOT reboot the game from scratch. If you delete the game and ALL data, it will not restart the game as it did the first time. Try it. I've only done it 500 times. The only way to do a full game reboot is to delete all save data while offline and then go back in the game offline. That weird short term memory thing is unique to this game, not any other game I play. It's a weird inconsistency that is new to the games on this engine and next gen.
That's swell you can't reproduce it, but it exists, period. How can you explain my clips? And bugs don't affect everyone. You can't tell someone who has replaced every single piece of hardware that can be replaced (over 9 months) to do a hard reset or make sure his ports are opened for an issue that manifests offline and online.
I just want this discussed with someone with more expertise. It has been "passed on," and I'll never get a real response because I understand how this works. This is a potentially complex issue involving short term memory and cloud data transfer. That's about the only thing that makes a lick of sense, and it can't be hand waved away. I can't even have a live chat with someone at EA. It's always whisper down the lane.
There really is no way to completely remove everything for online modes since that data is saved on our servers. I think your best option is to start over on a new account.

@EA_AljoI'm not saying it's solely about online modes because it happens in offline modes too. And I'm not saying for sure if it's a cloud problem.
Starting over on a new account (I have a 16 year account) is a heckuva option, but I've already tried a new account to no avail. Again, I'm interested in hearing from the team why the game is not programmed to reset, upon loading, when you delete all files and the game. Other games do so. But NHL22/23 retain some sort of information. I'm wondering if that is affecting the processing. Previous titles did not have Quick Resume (and I always close the app -- yet, it will still show "Last Played"). You'd previously load up the title screen, hit 'A', and then go to the main menus each time. But the new games are built to bypass that. I'm wondering if that's why I can't get rid of this.
Maybe I'm crazy, but if someone has replaced ALL hardware several times, but has an issue on my game online and offline with input issues, it would leave me befuddled if I was developing this game. Because that implies a bug or technical glitch. It's not like Apex (an EA game) didn't have an input delay issue that affected the entire software of the Xbox, across other titles and menus. - EA_Aljo3 years ago

Is NHL still in your Quick Resume menu? If so, try removing it and see if that helps. Unfortunately, I'm out of ideas. The majority of the playerbase isn't experiencing this so that makes it harder to track down. We'll keep an eye out for other reports. Since it happens on a new account as well, it's possible that could point to an issue outside of our game/servers. Does the same thing happen if you play on a totally different connection? We're also investigating connection issues reported here so if something is found, I'll report back with those details.

@EA_AljoI've deleted my game and data so many times. I never have once played with it on Quick Resume; I close app every time. I'm talking about the programming of the game -- it's programmed to retain certain short term data on the Xbox. Close the app, delete the game, whatever. It will show what mode you last played; it will save your settings; it will not reboot from the initial screens I posted on page 4 (post #34).
Plenty of people have input delay, whether it's a minority or not. It's basically impossible for me to have a hardware issue at this point, and I can't simply blame the servers. So, I'm thinking outside the box. I notice the game performs better OFFLINE when I delete all data OFFLINE and boot it back up OFFLINE, which is the only way to replicate the game actually starting from scratch. Something is happening when it loads online -- saving short-term data? synching data? -- is affecting the performance. I usually test in Offline Free Skate, and many times I notice it will feel normal for a minute before suddenly getting sluggish. - 3 years ago@EA_Aljo
So how would you explain my router showing ping of 110ms to the gameplay server instead of 22ms that the game is showing? Would explain the delay. - EA_Aljo3 years ago

I really don't know why it would show that difference. I'll pass on the feedback though. Thank you.

I literally have another post with pics showing same thing and you just glanced over it for the past several days and give people the same generic response.
So many people have this issue, what are you doing about it? Can you just tell us it is a physical proximity to server thing? Just be honest about it. Whenever I play someone closer to the server, say Virginia or NC (I am in NY) they are flying and my guys feels slow to respond. Same when I play people in northern NY and Montreal area due to their proximity to server. I have talked to a half dozen people about this including people who work at AWS and they say the same thing. Lag compensation probably plays a small role in it as well. Can you tell us anything about what protocol EA uses to send packets, or how game smoothing works, or anything about lag compensation? This has happened two years now for some of us. Go into Reddit and half the complaints are about this, which is a lot because their is a lot to complain about.
- 3 years ago@EA_Aljo can you guys just put the game how it was a the beginning? None of this was happening and the game was just fine . This lag is killing the game

There have been no changes to anything that would affect connections on our end. If there were, we'd have a far higher number of reports on this, but we will continuing monitoring for any issues.
- Dadaruklija3 years agoRising Scoutonly people who love the game and would like to continue playing write here, you write here so that the error can be fixed and we can continue to have fun with the game.. believe me, a lot of people are affected by the error, just don't write and just play another game
- 3 years ago@EA_Aljo Yeah nothing was changed. That's true but it's because the problem has existed since switch to dedicated servers and lag compensation.
- 3 years ago@EA_Aljo All I see is people reporting on this what more do you need ?

This thread currently has 56 replies. Some of which are from multiple posts from the same people. That is a very small part of the overall playerbase that we're not hearing from. You could try contacting your ISP to see if they are noticing any issues with your connection. We can also go through some connection troubleshooting. Let me know if you'd like to do that.
- 3 years ago@EA_Aljo Id like for your guys to actually fix the game , you are literally making fun of us
- 3 years ago@EA_Aljo There is everyday multiple posts about this from NEW people in reddit. People don't use this place and many don't even know this place exists. You can ask anyone who have played this game and they say yes they have experienced this. Maybe you should try your testing (if you actually do that) during prime time on normal servers (not in dev test setup) and you understand what people are complaining about.

I had two friends contribute videos in the thread I mentioned in #33. EA didn't take them seriously and so they stopped playing NHL 23. A lot of people in this thread are going to stop playing and I don't even know how Cross-Play is supposed to work without more servers or a connection fix, it's going to be a disaster.

Even with the traffic we have on these boards, it's definitely not everyone that is complaining about this. Personally, I'm not lagging and the guys on my club don't. I'm not saying that everything is fine. I'm just pointing out how this isn't actually happening to everyone. We'll keep monitoring for issues with the servers.
