@niccolo91eaMy ASUS has G-sync. I've of course tried every combination of settings. I've had it on and off to no avail. You'd think if my monitor (I have 2) was causing anything that it would manifest in other games, especially ones with much higher FPS counts and graphics demand.
I was playing very late last night, and I noticed that in the middle of the night (I'm a late night gamer regularly though), I randomly got a totally clean game of EASHL, after hours of play. I'm talking normal, and I felt like I was flying like I haven't in a long time. I could out-react anyone, I was getting hit bubbles, everything was instantaneous. And I was on some weird server with twice my normal ping, go figure. Doesn't explain why or why my issue is offline too, but even after a year of this crap, I KNOW the moment my game flickers to normalcy.
Game is really a joke, I can't say it is a cloud issue for me because I have no issue offline, once I turned freesync off my HP Omen monitor I realized there was actually a slight delay prior and since everything offline was so smooth. Went from winning Squad battles games 8-1, 7-2, to 13-1 16-1 etc.
The connection to servers is the key I believe because I can play VS all night and not experience this thing everyone in this thread experiences.
I was thinking about changing my ISP to see if they route differently to the server but from other's experience it seems that won't help either. The silence on the side of EA is pretty telling, look at FIFA forums; they have thousands of people complaining about same thing and no one there says "We aren't getting enough complaints" they just ignore the threads lol Wish we could get EA developer or network person to explain the issue to us.

Here i have something from the german FIFA Forum, i translated it into English
So what you are all describing right now, especially @Xxstarplayerxx0, seems more likely to be due to a problem in the execution of FIFA 23.
It's definitely not the internet. If it were just a connection issue, you'd have permanent stuttering, freeze with sudden fast-forwarding, or significant asynchronous delays. And that's only for online games.
But this is also about gameplay in offline modes, i.e. where only the locally saved program on your own hard drive works during a game.
Since, as is well known, it either always works well for some and only temporarily for others, and others report that it suddenly stopped working after a patch, it may well be that the installation of a patch did more damage than it did should have fixed. Patch files contain all the errors that need to be corrected, which are then corrected at the appropriate points in the Fifa main program. After all, no complete main program is replaced.
Would we be surprised if a patch would destroy the entire gameplay when installed? At least some bugs were not fixed, contrary to the changelog, or new bugs suddenly appeared after an installed patch. In individual cases, a patch can also destroy the entire gameplay.
Have you ever deleted all FIFA completely (including all scores, squad files, etc., absolutely everything) and downloaded the latest version in its entirety, i.e. without having to run any patches over it? Maybe several times in a row, if you notice that it's still not playable offline?
Well at least that's what I do whenever I find the game running noticeably different or glitchy after a patch has been installed. And when my game console downloads and installs something, I always wait to play until everything is downloaded and installed, so as not to load the hard drive with too many reads and writes, which could potentially result in the risk of errors.
At least on a PlayStation, the complete patch is always downloaded first and then the data on the patch file is gradually copied into the main program. In other words, it is checked when and where which data from the patch file has to be copied into the main file of FIFA 23.

Why is versus so much better than EASHL. The skating and overall feel is night and day, even though the ping fluctuates much more and is generally higher. feels like I am playing NHL19/20/21. Great responsiveness compared to EASHL which is basically unplayable at all times
- 3 years ago@niccolo91ea I will change my ISP soon because I will move in the end of the year.
I can give you feedback on that but since I already tested more than 8 ISPs in different regions of Germany I don't have much hope. - Dadaruklija3 years agoRising Scout

Every game is the same for me. First couple minutes are smooth, responsive, no input delay. Right around a couple minutes in there is significant delay and the whole game becomes unplayable. same thing happens in free skate. First minute great, then the laggy clunky skating shows up

Played four games this evening, all online games unplayble, won one game in OT and rage quit the other two, unplayable. I even had slight fat man lag when I played HUT Squad Battles.
And I'm wondering, wasn't the strategy glitch patched? I am playing Collapsing and my player are playing Tight Point...

Anyway, it's good that some fellow German players have joined the thread because Online gameplay is completely broken for players in Germany IMO and this needs more people complaining instead of player quitting the game.
- 3 years ago@9up3dprurovj The minute someone explains how it could affect free skate, let alone online, is the minute we actually approach a solution. How could an offline mode have delay issues, with no other developers games having this delay? It only goes back to an inherent issue with this game.
I've noticed that when I mess around with things offline (I mean no internet, not a game mode) and resetting and deleting data, sometimes the game will prompt me upon loading back online that I can choose the data from my "Xbox" or the "Cloud." This goes back to me wondering why the game always shortcuts right to the main menu, and if the real issue doesn't occur upon loading up, which is why offline is affected -- because it shortcuts and accesses the Cloud immediately.
As I said in my post above though, very late at night, it seems better not just online but offline. How could OFFLINE free skate feel better late at night (and online in suit)?! Shouldn't offline be consistent at all hours because, uh, it's offline? It makes zero sense. - 3 years ago
@DeliveryForKiki @So I just did what you said and deleted the saved game data and loaded up the game offline. Played free skate offline, no weird delay after a minute.
then I connected to internet and signed into my Xbox profile. Next I signed into my Xbox profile on the game itself and it restarted the game while also prompting me to sync with cloud data, Xbox data or just create a new profile which I selected. Now I’m in a free skate and the skating feels amazing and the vibration came back which I haven’t felt in god knows how long. About to test a real game.
also when I connected to the internet a second blue controller randomly appeared for no reason.
EDIT: just played two games. First one felt great but then I had to disconnect because the game started endlessly restarting on the faceoff, something I have never had happen to me in NHL 23. Next game felt good for a few minutes and then the horrible delay came back out of nowhere. I hate this game
- 3 years ago@9up3dprurovj I always have the blue controller, I can't get it to go away. Usually, I unplug it in Play Now and it goes red. But sometimes it shows me as a green controller too. I know that's a known glitch, and I think that's what causes the vibration issue.
It's uncanny that a soft rebooted, no Internet, unsigned in game feels much cleaner. I'm guessing offline isn't as offline as it appears, since as I said, it forces you to sync Cloud data the second it loads. It's perhaps why we get our delay offline too. I know in MLB, my Diamond Dynasty team doesn't sync until I click that mode. - Dadaruklija3 years agoRising Scout@prospero99c I'm from Austria and the game has been horrible for the last 2 weeks and unplayable since the last patch. I wrote to a famous German NHL youtuber if he had the same issues, of course he said no.. but in the comments there are some with the same problems as mine. I'm starting to believe in the conspiracy that some accounts connect EA with the best conditions, and believe me once you have this issue you will always have it, I don't know if it's because of your ip or something else.. me think EA remembers your ip and you will always have this problem which explains why some are affected and some are not

Same issues here on and off for the current and past iterations of this game. Feels like skating in quicksand some games, player turns like a boat. Ping does not seem to matter as it will happen sometimes with a 5 ms game, but then I will play a 70 ms game and it will feel fine in regards the input lag (obviously can feel a bit of network latency)
- 3 years ago@EA_Aljo Hey so Calgary is further away then Oregon! Playing from Vancouver BC is pretty much unplayable now. With the new server from Calagry we get matched with people from Alberta 90% of the time. The lag is unbelievable. It's completely unplayable. There is not any other issue then your proximity to the server for this game. You know this. Playing vs someone close to a server is unbearable. You know this. I literally have been ripped off. I've spent $300 on packs that are worthless. Playing someone close to a server it doesn't matter if your guy is a 99 and 82 will fly around you. EA as a company knows this. It's a completely unfair advantage and is pretty much cheating. You guys keep taking our money but do nothing about this. It's completely unacceptable. And the worst part I'd you've known this all along
- 3 years ago
Playing in HUT when you don't live near a server is close to mental insanity. You can't compete. This game is only playable for people near a server. Guys like Eki and Polgz have zero lag. Yes they have skill but your proximity to the server is EVERYTHING. EA has known this all along but they keep taking our money for packs. HUT is a complete dumpster fire because of this. EA has known this from the start. Why can't it be peer to peer and you get put in divisions by how good your connection is. If you have a bad connection you play vs people with a bad connection. In the highest division you have to have a connection of 10 ping or under or you get moved down. If your connection falls below this in the game you lose. It's very simple. And a simple way to stop all this lag bs and all the insanity that comes with it. These server issues have completely ruined the game. And players in Div 3 or higher live near a server 100%. If EA doesn't address this, this game is finished. It's so bad it's making people have mental health problems and making them spend money uncontrollably. This is actually a serious issue that needs to be addressed. It's completely unacceptable!
There are NO other issues with this game other then how close or far you live from a server! Nothing else. That's it. I'm so tired of reading all the bs and listening to guys like EA Alijo tell people to trouble shoot blah blah. When they have known ALL along your proximity to the server is the ONLY issue. They've known this the whole time but continue to take our money. Do not be fooled this is the only issue. There's a server in Calgary and Montreal for Canada. If you're not close to this you cannot compete! Does not matter how good your team is or how skilled you are. In the US there's one in Oregon, Ohio, and the biggest one in N.Virginia. if you don't live close to these you are absolutely done. Every player in Div 3 or higher live near one of these! This game is completely finished if this doesn't get resolved. Oh yeah I forgot to add they are using Amazon Web Services cloud servers. Do not spend one more dime on this game if you don't live near one of these because you cannot compete. This game is ruthless for all of us who don't live near one of these. As I've said EA has known this all along...

I know people who play in Vancouver and say that they have great connection. You should check your connection do what I did, it might be something else for you, maybe it is your ISP. SAP Alien is in lower BC for example. I advise you to get the switch and use wireshark and capture the connection.
Also I am pretty sure the calgary one didn't open up yet. I am in div2 borderline div 1 and I live 350 miles away from server, it is how the information is routed not always how close you are to server, but yes further away you usually have it worse.
- 3 years ago@niccolo91ea Hey man I totally agree there is packet loss, what you're saying is true. But it is because of the distance you are from the server. People close to the server will not have the packet loss. And yes as I've said EA knows this so ofcourse they will not show that you are having packet loss. EA Alijo directly said in this thread that the Oregon server was not being used anymore but instead the new one in Calgary. I know this is true because everytime I play someone from Calgary or Edmonton the lag is ridiculous. It all depends on who your opponent is and where they live on how much lag there is. Some games yes I have no lag and it's usually when I play someone from Vancouver. I've done an experiment after every game I play win or lose. I politely tell the person I just played good game and ask them where they're from. I'm telling you every single time it works out by where they live if there's lag or not. I absolutely promise you this is the only problem with the game. EA doesn't do anything about it because their pack sales are doing great. There's no reason for them to change. The NHL community is one of the most toxic because of the level of frustration from most of the players who don't live by a server. Its insanity. I'm not sure where you live by maybe you get matched with people from your area more because it's a bigger population, I don't know thou. Where do you live? I completely agree with what you're saying but it's 100% because of the distance you are from the server
- 3 years ago@OzzyGoose78 and what reality and facts say it is not 100 percent distance to server, and when you say things like that you sound ignorant and people will not take the people with this issue seriously. How do you know you are experiencing packet loss? You can't just jump on board and assume, do what I did and have some evidence. Also, there are people who live by you like SAP Alien that gets top 5 in champs. Even with his above average skills it would be almost impossible for him to do that with significant packet loss and delay. So maybe reach out to him and see what ISP he uses? It is the route the network takes to get to the game server and depending on your ISP and yes, the distance to the server, affects the game. It is not all distance to the server, everyone's ISP doesn't have the same contracts with the cable companies and everything else along the route, the companies can traffic manage/ QoS the packets as they deem fit which can cause the delay. So it is not just distance. Also, when I use netduma software to connect to game servers for this game, one of the servers I can connect to IP address is 15.181.3.113, google that IP address you will find it is amazon AWS in Oregon. So relax, we are on the same side here, but get your facts straight so you don't sound like you don't know what you are talking about which allows EA people to dismiss us easily.
- 3 years ago@niccolo91ea OK thanks i appreciate the more thorough understanding. You obviously seem very knowledgeable in this area. I know we're on the same side of said I agreed with you. I'll reach out to SAP Alien and see which provider he is using and if he knows anything about this. Thanks for the information. Also it was EA Alijo who said the Calgary server was up. It was also him who said people from Vancouver don't play on the Oregon server anymore. He didn't say it was closed for everybody. Anyway yes we're on the same team. All I want is to figure this out. I'm trying to figure out how to reach SAP Alien. I know he's on Twitter and Twitch. I'll let you know
- 3 years ago
@niccolo91eaAre you friends with him? Can you ask him to come to this thread? I don't have Twitter and Twitch you can only chat during a live stream. I'd love to talk to him directly if possible. If you could help in any way with this I would be very thankful. Thanks bro
- 3 years ago@OzzyGoose78 DM him on twitter would be the way to go, tell him you are from vancouver and have horrible connection to server yet he is from same area and his game play looks smooth ask him who is ISO is and if he has any suggestions. EA person is incorrect because my friends from Calgary still connect to Oregon as of last week and still have delay.
- 3 years ago@niccolo91ea Thanks man! I appreciate you taking the time to respond. Yeah I guess I'll need to make a Twitter account to contact him because I really want to figure this out. Also how can this EA Alijo who works for EA be giving out false information, that's unbelievable. Kind of just shows how messed up the whole situation is
- 3 years ago@niccolo91ea So I talked with SAP Alien on Twitter just now. You are right! It's my ISP. I'm on Shaw and for some reason their DNS doesn't work well with the EA servers! There is another ISP named Telus that has Fibre Optic and he said you have to use them. He has some friends that used to be on Shaw and said it was a nightmare. Thank you so much! You have no idea what a relief it is to have finally figured this out! They're coming next Tuesday to install it. I'm so excited to play some Chel with no lag!!! You da man!
