Playing in HUT when you don't live near a server is close to mental insanity. You can't compete. This game is only playable for people near a server. Guys like Eki and Polgz have zero lag. Yes they have skill but your proximity to the server is EVERYTHING. EA has known this all along but they keep taking our money for packs. HUT is a complete dumpster fire because of this. EA has known this from the start. Why can't it be peer to peer and you get put in divisions by how good your connection is. If you have a bad connection you play vs people with a bad connection. In the highest division you have to have a connection of 10 ping or under or you get moved down. If your connection falls below this in the game you lose. It's very simple. And a simple way to stop all this lag bs and all the insanity that comes with it. These server issues have completely ruined the game. And players in Div 3 or higher live near a server 100%. If EA doesn't address this, this game is finished. It's so bad it's making people have mental health problems and making them spend money uncontrollably. This is actually a serious issue that needs to be addressed. It's completely unacceptable!

There are NO other issues with this game other then how close or far you live from a server! Nothing else. That's it. I'm so tired of reading all the bs and listening to guys like EA Alijo tell people to trouble shoot blah blah. When they have known ALL along your proximity to the server is the ONLY issue. They've known this the whole time but continue to take our money. Do not be fooled this is the only issue. There's a server in Calgary and Montreal for Canada. If you're not close to this you cannot compete! Does not matter how good your team is or how skilled you are. In the US there's one in Oregon, Ohio, and the biggest one in N.Virginia. if you don't live close to these you are absolutely done. Every player in Div 3 or higher live near one of these! This game is completely finished if this doesn't get resolved. Oh yeah I forgot to add they are using Amazon Web Services cloud servers. Do not spend one more dime on this game if you don't live near one of these because you cannot compete. This game is ruthless for all of us who don't live near one of these. As I've said EA has known this all along...

Also I am pretty sure the calgary one didn't open up yet. I am in div2 borderline div 1 and I live 350 miles away from server, it is how the information is routed not always how close you are to server, but yes further away you usually have it worse.
- 3 years ago@niccolo91ea Hey man I totally agree there is packet loss, what you're saying is true. But it is because of the distance you are from the server. People close to the server will not have the packet loss. And yes as I've said EA knows this so ofcourse they will not show that you are having packet loss. EA Alijo directly said in this thread that the Oregon server was not being used anymore but instead the new one in Calgary. I know this is true because everytime I play someone from Calgary or Edmonton the lag is ridiculous. It all depends on who your opponent is and where they live on how much lag there is. Some games yes I have no lag and it's usually when I play someone from Vancouver. I've done an experiment after every game I play win or lose. I politely tell the person I just played good game and ask them where they're from. I'm telling you every single time it works out by where they live if there's lag or not. I absolutely promise you this is the only problem with the game. EA doesn't do anything about it because their pack sales are doing great. There's no reason for them to change. The NHL community is one of the most toxic because of the level of frustration from most of the players who don't live by a server. Its insanity. I'm not sure where you live by maybe you get matched with people from your area more because it's a bigger population, I don't know thou. Where do you live? I completely agree with what you're saying but it's 100% because of the distance you are from the server
- 3 years ago@OzzyGoose78 and what reality and facts say it is not 100 percent distance to server, and when you say things like that you sound ignorant and people will not take the people with this issue seriously. How do you know you are experiencing packet loss? You can't just jump on board and assume, do what I did and have some evidence. Also, there are people who live by you like SAP Alien that gets top 5 in champs. Even with his above average skills it would be almost impossible for him to do that with significant packet loss and delay. So maybe reach out to him and see what ISP he uses? It is the route the network takes to get to the game server and depending on your ISP and yes, the distance to the server, affects the game. It is not all distance to the server, everyone's ISP doesn't have the same contracts with the cable companies and everything else along the route, the companies can traffic manage/ QoS the packets as they deem fit which can cause the delay. So it is not just distance. Also, when I use netduma software to connect to game servers for this game, one of the servers I can connect to IP address is 15.181.3.113, google that IP address you will find it is amazon AWS in Oregon. So relax, we are on the same side here, but get your facts straight so you don't sound like you don't know what you are talking about which allows EA people to dismiss us easily.
- 3 years ago@niccolo91ea OK thanks i appreciate the more thorough understanding. You obviously seem very knowledgeable in this area. I know we're on the same side of said I agreed with you. I'll reach out to SAP Alien and see which provider he is using and if he knows anything about this. Thanks for the information. Also it was EA Alijo who said the Calgary server was up. It was also him who said people from Vancouver don't play on the Oregon server anymore. He didn't say it was closed for everybody. Anyway yes we're on the same team. All I want is to figure this out. I'm trying to figure out how to reach SAP Alien. I know he's on Twitter and Twitch. I'll let you know
- 3 years ago
@niccolo91eaAre you friends with him? Can you ask him to come to this thread? I don't have Twitter and Twitch you can only chat during a live stream. I'd love to talk to him directly if possible. If you could help in any way with this I would be very thankful. Thanks bro
- 3 years ago@OzzyGoose78 DM him on twitter would be the way to go, tell him you are from vancouver and have horrible connection to server yet he is from same area and his game play looks smooth ask him who is ISO is and if he has any suggestions. EA person is incorrect because my friends from Calgary still connect to Oregon as of last week and still have delay.
- 3 years ago@niccolo91ea Thanks man! I appreciate you taking the time to respond. Yeah I guess I'll need to make a Twitter account to contact him because I really want to figure this out. Also how can this EA Alijo who works for EA be giving out false information, that's unbelievable. Kind of just shows how messed up the whole situation is
- 3 years ago@niccolo91ea So I talked with SAP Alien on Twitter just now. You are right! It's my ISP. I'm on Shaw and for some reason their DNS doesn't work well with the EA servers! There is another ISP named Telus that has Fibre Optic and he said you have to use them. He has some friends that used to be on Shaw and said it was a nightmare. Thank you so much! You have no idea what a relief it is to have finally figured this out! They're coming next Tuesday to install it. I'm so excited to play some Chel with no lag!!! You da man!

You da man!try offline, you will see that it has nothing to do with the connection. The game itself is faulty, not your console, not your connection, just the file you download, but still wish you luck, hope it's really just the connection for you
- 3 years ago@Dadaruklija I hear what you're saying but I don't think the game ever really goes totally offline if that makes sense. Some games I don't have lag so there's definitely something happening only some of the time. SAP Alien who is one of the better players here in Vancouver says he has no issues. Also he has buddies who said it was brutal playing on Shaw but have no issues now on Telus. But yeah you never know. This whole thing has been a mystery
- Dadaruklija3 years agoRising Scout
@OzzyGoose78By offline I didn't mean team battles, disconnect from the console and play completely offline without connecting to the server. If the game runs normally then it's the connection, if it's just as terrible as before then you can save the money and time for a new provider.. I've already tried 100 different things, like in the other house, different connection , other new console..nothing has changed.. for me only 2 things come into question, a faulty file when downloading the game or patches or updates of the consoles that don't get along with EA games. We focus too much on EA, maybe our consoles are causing the asynchronous game.

Try changing your static DNS1 to 1.1.1.1 and Static DNS2 to 8.8.4.4.
This bypasses the ISPs preset DNS they use....
Been running this ever since NHL22.
- 3 years ago@OzzyGoose78 I’m glad you spoke with him and I’m glad you possibly found a solution. The people I spoke with in the past tell me Vancouver is one of the best connections it’s almost like Montreal, so I hope it’s game changing for you and you can enjoy this game again.

Do read this and don't discount it. I KNOW first hand how EA avoids things.
Since this thread is 22 pages long and most people don't bother reading from the 3rd to last pages onward, I have a couple of things you should try:
1- Try changing your routers static DNS1 to 1.1.1.1 and Static DNS2 to 8.8.4.4.
This bypasses the ISPs preset DNS they use....
2- Try connecting console directly to modem, bypassing any switches/routers/other hardware.
Maybe removes a misbehaving device or a device using a setting on your network.
My job had a switch that "worked" but downloads were horrible. They replaced the wiring, Server network cards, re-imaged systems and changed drivers.
In the end, putting a different switch in place fixed everything.
Same situation different location, acting almost identical symptoms turned out to be the router.
3- Use hard wired connection as opposed to wifi.
Always faster than wifi.
4- Try a VPN that may use a HOP nearer to one of the EA Servers so you get a better response time.
What this also does is redirect the way the packets are sent. It may have a slightly higher ping, BUT
can reduce the number of steps (HOPS) from say 16 to 8 in essence speeding you up.
Hope something I wrote might work for you....
Its better than what you've been getting since October for some...

The problem is the lag and sluggish gameplay is not only online but also offline. I don't think servers or the internet connection is the problem, I've had at least 2 weeks of fantastic gameplay, wired and 5g. And since a patch it's unplayable, even offlineThe problem with the lag and sluggish gameplay is not only online but also offline. - 3 years ago@SpaceFury65 Hey dude thanks for the tip. Changing the DNS to 1.1.1.1 and 8.8.4.4 has helped reduce the lag a fair amount. I still get some lag but it's way better. I'm actually 3-4 in Champs right now. The best start I've ever had. The main problem is my ISP thou. I've spoke with some guys here and the ISP I'm on right now (Shaw) is the problem. I have an appt for Tuesday to switch to Fibre Optic (Telus) from what I've been told it will be like night and day the difference. I cannot wait
- 3 years ago@niccolo91ea Thanks man! You are actually a legend. If it wasn't for you I wouldn't have thought to switch my ISP. Sorry if I came off as a know it all. I was just super frustrated. Thanks again bro. I'll let you know on Tuesday how it goes, after I switch my ISP
