My Honest review of NHL 23
Sinc the last update was probably the last, I think it is safe to assume that this is the final version of the game right now. So, let me try and dissect the game for all it's worth and with the same respect the EA Sports team seem to have give this community.
First and foremost: A pathetic attempt at a Hockey video game.
Offline:
Gameplay:
The AI have not seen any improvements at all. Rather, they seem to be even more oblivious to any Hockey knowledge (Unless we count the obvious speed boosts that the CPU gets when preparing another cheese goal or to close the gap when you are breaking out with a rested McDavid vs Edmundson)
The goalies in this game are terrible and can't seem to tell the differences between the puck and the ice itself, might as well take them out for NHL 24.
The glued puck to the CPU's stick that we love so much is still there and better yet, the hitting and pokechecking against the AI gives them the separation speed to go for, you guessed it, another cheese one-timer or forehand wrap.
The AI can't get tired lines. Always at full speed and one-handed shove easily hand them over the puck for, yes, separation speed to go for another cheese goal.
Franchise :
There are so many things wrong with this mode. LTIR, Lack of Leagues already in the game, suspensions, goalie injuries, flues like back on the PS2, injured players being in attendance like on PS2 again, the non-existing free agency and lack of everything. The game mode possesses ZERO depth. It's plain and very boring. Why can't I edit OVR, draft classes in an offline game mode is beyond me tbh.
Tell me why I have to give a limited character name to my GM that has is never going to appear in the game in the first place???
BE A PRO:
DO SOMETHING! The mode has nothing going for it. Why do I have to sit through the same cutscene every time that start one? Why is it that since NHL 21, I AM UNABLE TO SKIP THIS NONSENSE?
Why is there no changes to the mode except every 10 years?
Also, the game mode itself forces you be a superstar and if I just stand on the ice without skating, it seem to reward me with more NHL opportunites and at the end of the year, I'll get rewarded with two contracts; A new team and the same morons that paid my front row tickets for 82 games the season prior.
Online:
Oh lord. I don't understand how the online community can sit and handle this glitch goal fest. I can't do it. I can beat most of my matches but I can't torture myself into playing the same matches over and over (my last defeat was back in NHL 20). I don't really do online but, man is it boring.
HUT:
The same as online vs but with a gambling or gacha thingy attached to it. I would rather burn money instead of subjecting myself to this. To each there own though.
For the most part, this is my review of the game and although I received the game for free, it still manage to annoy me that much.
I guess if I was to give it a note: 3/10 like I gave last year's game too.
English isn't my main language but I hope my review will get across and you guys will be able to read it to make your decision on whether you want to buy this game.
