Network Connection Issue - Can't play online!

NHL 23 - ps5. I cannot connect to the servers, even though my ps5 is receiving internet. I've tried testing the connection, restarting game/console, even restarting router. My current internet speed on my device is around 240 mbps, and I have no trouble connecting to other non-ea games online.

below I've added a pic of what i see when i check my connection to the ps5  network, and the error i get in game.

I have not had trouble playing any other game online with this device, and tested other games tonight to check.

Please, if anyone else has had this issue, let me know how you solved it. I really just want to play this game.

I'm really glad to hear using a cable helped! Normally, you can still connect on a wireless connection, but it's not going to be as stable as a wired one. It's possible your connection was just too weak on wireless to even connect. If you have any other issues, please reach out again. Good luck on the ice!

Can you try connecting to a mobile hotspot and see if you can connect then? This is just as a test.

  • Last night I received my ethernet chord to provide a wired connection to my ps5.

I started up the game, and it showed a message from ea, Contact Preferences, 'Do you want to receive emails from Ea about promotional material....?'

After that, I was able to connect to online modes. I tried on 3-4 separate occasions to connect before typing this out, to make sure it was still working. It was. I no longer have a problem in connecting online to this game.

I understand you community manager's can only do so much, but I really hope you note down this problem, and what happened after I was able to connect, as others in the future may have this issue if there isn't some sort of change implemented.

When connected wirelessly (240+mpbs) I of course accepted the terms/license agreements as they came up. That message about EA Contacts never came up with a wireless connection, which may have been preventing me from going online. There is obviously something wrong, as the other licenses came up fine.

As I've mentioned many times now, I have standard internet settings/connection, and have never had an issue in any other game. Please mark this down or something, because this will happen to others as well.

  • Hey not sure if you fixed this yet but I'd say try to change the firewall settings on your router. If you have it set to a higher security level the router will not open the network ports that the game needs to connect to the server.
