I play offline against the CPU. So I play both offense and defense. I like to consider myself a decent defensive player. I play the position and don’t sell out for hits.
Poke check are so incredibly bad this year. 99.9% it just ends right back on the opponents stick.
Their skater can be barreling down the wing at full speed, I Time a perfect poke check directly on the puck. The puck should shoot in the opposite direction the offensive player is traveling, right?
Nope. The offensive player is separated from the puck for 0.1 seconds just to have it end up on their stick, and now blowing past my defender who is out of position because he can’t poke and move at speed anymore.
agreed. It’s terrible. Poke checks are terrible. Small guys like caufield bounce off the checks off my 6’5 defensive defenseman

I am actually legit baffled that playing D was playtested and that in its current state someone rubber stamped everything and said "ya, this is fine".
