NHL 23 Issues

We paid 70 bucks for nhl 22 but with last ditch puck movement. A whole year later and a number of problems exist

-Lt abuse

-Sauce pass speed boost

- Broken X factors

- Goalies are still AWFUL

-False advertising about presentation

- Little to no communication about anything

- hitting bubbles still being a thing (this has been in the game for 4 years

- WOC/EASHL matched STILL are crashing upon loading (this is honestly just pathetic that this is still happening)

-No GM connected

-No BAP updates

-Wrap around abuse

-Menus are lagging more than ever

-Still seeing racist club/player names

-builds being more generic than ever and encouraging 0 creativity

-Input lag (they straight up denied this exist BTW)

-No vote to kick / auto kick features in drop ins

-Still can't wear custom clothes in 6 on 6 drop ins

-Goalie is still a junky nightmare to play

-The top 5 goals of the month they post are usually them highlighting abuse/Glitches that shouldn't even be in the game

-Defense still sucks to try and play

-AI is in one of the worst states it's been in

-Stick lifting is a penalty no matter what

-Poke checking and missing slows you down for some reason but there's no penalty to holding LT?

BUT HEY GUYS WE GOT THE ZEGRAS PASS!!! Seriously? After all that you still have the balls to put this game out for 70 bucks? And your lack of communication is awful. I feel bad for @EA_Aljo. They put out this dumpster fire of a game and leave him to deal with it on the fourms all by himself. Serious i feel bad for him it's not his fault the game is abysmal (however I wish you have better responses than "I'll show this to the devs" like what did they say after they saw it? Are they going to fix it? Is it a priority?)

Edit: Modified the title to better reflect the content of the post. -CM

  • I just stuck with "22" this year  .... only play offline,  didn't see the point in updating.

    There is literally no point to buying the $70 version.. the gameplay is the exact same. So if someone wasted $70 on it just because of the better FPS, that's on them.. just buy the cheaper option or stick with a previous version. (I didn't buy the game, didn't plan on it) my buddy bought it and we gameshare. If they want to get their fanbase back, 2 easy steps;

    1. Put some effort in the next game, make things stand out; i.e. actually listen to your fan base (and no I don't mean adding a couple of features but keeping 90% of the gamplay the exact same) like listed above why can't we wear custom tops in 6s? Why is it only in 3s?? Honestly just let us wear dark clothing for home, light for away.. (its been like this for almost 10 years and I know I'm not the only one to bring it up... like if this game still has bugs (like scoring a goal then not being able to read the zone ability after scoring, I'm no game developer but that is 100% an unfinished game with an issue that wasn't there last year). Abilities were not tweaked at all, some of them are still broken or op.

    2. Just put it on gamepass and free to everyone... I honestly feel like we've been getting ripped off for years now.. time to man up, apologize and make it right to us... (plus it shouldn't be a big issue since this game doesn't bring in the same revenue as madden or fifa)

$30 is too much lol, this game should honestly be free to play, and even then it’s still not worth playing due to the amount of bugs and just how little fun overall the game is anyways.

The sad part is, if this game was actually free to play, they would still have problems getting and retaining players with the state it’s in currently.

People need to face facts that this franchise is too small to be run by a company made up of pure greed. Clearly the dev team we currently have, can’t even copy and paste the game without it still being broken, so how do you expect them to be given the time and resources to actually make strides with the series.

They need to fire the lead of this series.. since he took over its just been bad.. minor changes every year, not sure how much of this is on the actual devs, or is it just the lead lead saying, "idc just get me a product by the deadline.." kinda feels like #2 but who knows 🤷‍♂️

@FloundinatorQQ I can see what your saying. I know the actual programmers and design team etc etc probably don't get to make many calls regarding what goes in the game and they do a pretty decent job of making things work but the suits probably just don't give a * about what happens as long as it sells and hut card sells. That's probably literally all it comes down to

plus a lot of bugs that have never been there before. It looks like someone got into the game and then got scared that it wouldn't work. It is very likely that the game code is so large and difficult to modify that every other error will multiply the previous ones. (programming term)

After 30 years, the game naturally reaches a point of diminishing returns. Massive gameplay upgrades simply aren’t realistic year to year.

Glitches, AI, etc should always be improved upon of course. But beyond the core gameplay, the things that can make a large visual impact year over year are animations/no-cap, presentation, play by play dialogue, and overall atmosphere. There will never be a shortage of real life elements to bring into the virtual game world.

I feel like the gameplay is solid. With proper sliders, it can play great. The shortcomings in this game are the presentation and broadcast elements, the small details that 2K gave us a decade ago. There is a lot more room to make up ground in these areas than gameplay (in my opinion).

With these yearly releases, often with the removal of features and very little added, these games should not be $70 launch titles. All sports gaming should be patched improvements over a calendar year rather than yearly titles.

I believe EA has addressed this and said the NHL wants a yearly release and wouldn’t accept rolling updates.

long story short - in my opinion - the game is far more severely lacking in the visual presentation and little details than the core gameplay.
