So many content creators and numerous consistent games are fed up and already giving up on NHL 23... Watched NoSleeves video of another bug where the skaters legs were still. I have had similar experiences. There is a hitting bubble also. I aimed my check with a body to body contact, instead we bounce off like a bunch of curling rocks... Franchise mode still has the RFA offer sheet issue. LT and self-sauce are abused way to much lately. Goalies don't cover the corners, A friend of mine dealt with it in his stream where the goalie stayed still and they shot to the side of the net by the goal line. BAP literally had no changes to it, which is highly disappointing! Even HUT has it's own issues and the rewards aren't worth the time/effort... Might be time to skip 24 and work on the current game asap! Nobody will want to buy 24 if this is what we are getting!
The only thing they have near perfect in this game when it comes to defensive play is stick lift.
Hitting and poke check is completely broken. The invisible barrier when holding forehand or backhand gliding in a tiny circle is exploited to the extreme. Then when you do land a good hit. Most of the time, the puck just glides to their team mate or bounces to their team mate.
While the physics engine to this game is good, it doesn't account for obvious parts that appear to be neglected.

I'm not so sure about that. I understand the change - they want us to use it sparingly. In '22, it could bail you out. There were times I'd stick lift from behind and get away with it. I am totally in favor of losing that advantage in '23 in favor of a more realistic poke check.
One would think that approaching a non-moving player with the puck, while being in full control of your speed and attempting a stick lift with NONE of the body in between you and the stick would result in a clean stick lift.. but.....
Why is my player doing such an exaggerated stick lift? If we're going to penalize the mechanic, then give us a dynamic mechanic that allows us to control the 'strength' of the stick lift. In the GIF above, that should NOT be a penalty at all but because the animation is so exaggerated, the stick crosses the plane of the body and triggers the penalty.

Yea I'm still not sure what I'm doing wrong, but hitting for me is hit and miss. It seems.. inconsistent:

@KidShowtime1867@EA_Aljo@EA_BlueberryWhat's causing these stick lift responses?
- belair_col3 years agoNew Adventurer@KidShowtime1867 On the board play you're conceding body position with the hit animation. Agreed it's stupid that a puckcarrier skating in a straight line consistently gets rewarded, but that's the basic * stuff that EA seems to be promoting in the newer games.
If you tap the hip check ani when you have a step on the puck carrier, cut in front of him so he runs straight into your back. He'll lose the puck and likely deal with a stumble animation.
The lateral movement from the hip check animation is pretty much the only effective defense against puck raggers in this game. But it's also super effective defensive tool.
