@EA_Aljo Same error on Xbox Series X. Have tried the suggested solutions power cycling all network equipment, alternate DNS, etc. I can't edit my WOC skater because I can't get into the mode, I just get an error when loading into WOC then booted to main menu.

Try deleting your personal saved data with these steps -
- Press the Guide button and then highlight the NHL 23 tile.
- Hit the Menu button. It's the small one to the right of the Guide button with 3 horizontal lines on it.
- Next, go to Manage game and add-ons > Saved data. Delete the file with your gamertag on it. Choose the option from deleting everywhere. You won't lose any content or progress.

Thanks, I did try this once or twice previously. I actually reset my Xbox (without deleting installed games) without any luck. Later uninstalled and reinstalled NHL 23 -- same error.
I created a new Gamertag and EA Account on my Xbox. Since it is my home Xbox, my main account shared Gold & access to NHL 23 to the new account. Using the new Gamertag and EA Account, I was able to load into WOC normally on the console in question. My Level 1 default everything skater showed up in the menu as normal and I was free to play any WOC mode.
I switched back to my 'real' account which is Prestige 4, Level 33. I got the same error I have been getting for 24 hours and kicked back to the main NHL 23 menu when trying to load into WOC.
Since I can access WOC from the same console using a different account, and I can access every online and offline mode except WOC using my "real" account, it really seems to me like I've done something customization wise and/or WOC gear related that is causing the issue. As we all know, your skater skates up in the WOC menu first thing when you get into the mode. I seem to get the "Failed to retrieve inventory" error right before my skater would normally appear, then I'm kicked to the main menu.
Unfortunately, I can't edit my customization at all like another user in this thread because I can't get into the mode period. Here is a short vid of the error: https://gamerdvr.com/gamer/the-snake-esq/video/171321847
I have a ticket/case opened with EA Help and the agent Dan seemed pretty knowledgeable of the NHL series. He advised he was flagging the issue with "Community" and the "Game Team" so I am hoping somehow this gets resolved on EA's end. @EA_Aljo if you have any other thoughts or means to resolve/escalate, please let me know. I can certainly survive without WOC but I did miss out on club playoffs last night and it's frustrating to be going on 24 hours unable to access the only mode I play in NHL 23 and paid $60 for back in October. Thanks for any help.

Please let me know if you are able to resolve this. In my case it occurs when I launch WOC so I cannot access or play the mode at all. It's been 3 days since I was able to play WOC and so far unfortunately there is no fix or resolution in sight.
Edit: do you happen to recall what cosmetics you may have recently equipped of unlocked?

I dunno I was playing all morning the day I got the error. Just played a club game. Then got off for a bit and came back and got the error

Doubt there's an update yet since team's just getting back into the office from the weekend. I haven't been able to play WOC at all since last Monday... just get booted back to main menu whenever I launch the mode. I believe @EA_Aljo has sent over all our information, but I am not sure if our individual accounts are being reviewed to be fixed or if our reports are being looked at as part of a broader bug investigation. Best case scenario they can quickly tune or tweak something on the backend that fixes the issue for us and everyone else... worst case scenario we have to wait for a patch or something.
Interesting all 3 of us are on Series X though.

So far, this issue is happening to you and one other person. That makes it very difficult to reproduce as it's apparently a rare occurrence. You already provided your gamertag. We will never ask for your password so don't ever give that out.

Best to stay constructive--though I agree. This bug prevents us from playing the game and in my case the only mode I play in NHL 23. It's been an entire week of the same error message and being unable to access the WOC hub menu. I missed the entire Season 2 playoffs with my club as a result. Thanks, EA.Resolving this issue even if it's only a quick fix to our specific Gamertags and EA accounts (w/ a global fix coming later) needs to happen asap. I'm no developer but certainly EA can go in and reset offensive player names, boosted stats, etc. Just looking for someone to check out our accounts, equipped items, WOC inventory, and perhaps identify/fix why the error we receive is "cannot retrieve inventory from server at this time" before booting us back to main menu. Reset me to Jordan NHL for all I care--just looking to get back in the game (w/ stats & XP preserved, if possible).
Not being able to play a $70+ product at all for over a week is pretty crappy for the player/customer.

Looks like in that thread you mention it "being resolved on EA's end."

The only option we have that may get you playing again is to completely wipe out your WoC player. This would mean you'd be starting over. If you're ok with that, we'll give it a shot, but there's also no guarantee that it's going to work.

don't delete your player. They better fix this issue we are having.. like you said they got all this time to go in and update all these player stats and crap..but cant figure out why we are seeing errors lol.. I paid $100 for this broke game..its a joke. its a recycled copy of NHL 18-22 nothing new on the game...and these lame A$$ clown,pirate,nut cracker jerseys are stupid!! focus on game play and servers instead..

I CHANGED MY GAMER NAME TO KBrac586DET to see if that would fix the error.. nope
. So what's going on over there to fix this error I have had for almost 2 weeks?????
