Re: Need dev comment on why this happens.

is this a baseline response i am confused at this question.

Its 6v6 EASHL.
If you slow it down you see the RW forcing the pass across to someone covered by 2 guys, the puck goes thru the RD whos guy actually looks down at the puck and doesnt do any pickup or knock away.

I didn't realize the LD was human controlled. My bad there. I thought this was a complaint about AI defenders letting the puck through. In this case, the LD could have defended it. It would be good to see the RD play this better, but there also isn't a lot of reaction time available with a pass that close so that could play a role in this.

@EA_Aljo and what about the other player on the backcheck literally at the same level as the forward standing right next to him?

Why does offense always have superior reaction time speed in comparison to defenders? It's significantly harder to get your stick in position for offense than defense yet they're able to position it in a way to accept a puck that's rocketed towards them, then coral it and then put it on net but 2 defenders can't even remotely aim their sticks towards these passes?

Two players played this well and the result is a free goal for the offense because some guy crushed his R2/RT button full send to his teammate. Meanwhile guys who not only read the play but adjusted accordingly are rarely rewarded...

@TheUnusedCrayon I would like to believe the awareness plays a factor and most offensive builds probably have 90+ and def awareness probably around the low 80s. But I will say this. No Contest is godly.

The reaction time for the user controlled defender was about the same as the reaction time for the offensive player receiving the pass, so sorry, but that's not a good explanation.  And also, the reception was at much more of an awkward angle for the puck receiver than for the defender.

It's obvious that offensive players play by different (way more forgiving) rules for puck pickups, receptions, etc. than defensive players.  I'm not sure why you guys can't admit to that and instead choose to blame the user when it obviously isn't his fault.  The user to blame should be the offensive player for forcing a pass to a covered player.

These soft community managers won’t admit a thing when they damn well know this game is broken in every aspect. Sometimes the best PASS is just to walk in to the zone and let the defender hit you and I assure you that puck leak goes to the offensive player on your team. Or just throw in cLoSe QuArTeRs and just force everything past the goalies ankles. It’s a joke and this is far from a hockey simulator. I feel like I’m playing fifa on ice and it’s getting softer and softer every year. WE WANT THE GAME TO BE FAIR FOR EVERYONE is probably their motto. So to be a skilled defender in the game is now useless. Take the puck to the net and force it with your little close quarters trait is the name of the game now. BRAVOOOOO EA what do you have to say to that?

Here is everyone's reaction time when the pass is released:

And here is when the puck makes it's way across the ice:

I don't think the difference in reaction time between those two players is very much.

If the roles were reversed and the forward had inside position and went for the one timer, would he miss it?  I don't think so.  We wouldn't be talking about reaction time then, would we?

This happens so often.  You can be squared up to a pass and it ends up on the dude behind you on a forced terrible play for a slam dunk.  Something is definitely off with puck interceptions.
