Hey everyone,
I've reported this to the dev team and will report back when I have some details. Really appreciate the feedback on this.

So is anything being done with this issue? It’s really annoying that when I shoot with hybrid and the puck gets poked I get a penalty every time.

I don't have any news on this currently. We'll have to wait and see if it's addressed. For now, the best I can advise is to try using the Skill Stick controls.

@EA_Aljowait and see if it’s addressed?! It’s one of the core tools of defence. The mechanic is broken, it’s not just about tuning it. Should be top priority on fix list.

There are a number of different issues being investigated currently. When we have some news, we'll make an announcement.
- thegarden943 years agoSeasoned Ace@Greyinsi you would think this would have been done already, ,and in my opinion this won't get fixed at all

I was responding to someone else about the specific issue with hybrid controls.
At the very least, the penalty on a stick lift should be completely negated if the human controlled player is simply standing still. I've had this happen to me twice now where a player will simply not move their puck carrier in an attempt to bait you in to taking a slash, and it works:

@csedin1422You would think by now this would be fixed ,this is just like the interference penalties from 22 people sent in clips of how bad they were which still are and nothing has been done ,my guess is they just don't even care how bad the game is
- @thegarden94 They aren't gonna do small patches here and there. We probably won't see a patch til the cross-gen is added and even then we might not even get a fix for this and have to deal with it all of NHL 23.

I have been little happier with stick lifts after I put more points towards discipline and stick checking in WoC. I wonder if tuning the effect of those skills would help ease the issue somewhat.

They aren’t fixing anything until cross play integration is ready to go. They could care less about anything else

This is extremely far from the truth. We're all excited for cross-platform play to go live, but we absolutely care about the issues that have been reported.
- Greyinsi3 years agoSeasoned Veteran@EA_Aljo the game has been out now for ages, and still nothing has been fixed. Actions speak for themselves…

I wouldn't call 3 weeks ages, but I get the frustration. There is a lot of work that goes in to patches so they don't come out immediately. Again, when we have news, we'll announce it.

@EA_AljoI haven't purchased the game this year (first time non-purchase since the 90's) because of all the issues I'm still seeing. But I believe the "ages" comment is referring to the past few years. We see the same issues year after year after year.
I'm reading about AI defense being horrible AGAIN this year, which was something EA said they knew about last year (LD playing on the RD side, etc.) So what was fixed? From what I've read, nothing. Defense is still letting the other team skate right in without touching them.
And the presentation debacle? Horrendous. Instead of creating new NHL forums, just rename them because you'll have the same issues reported. "Frustration" doesn't even begin to describe how this community feels about this series. - EA_Aljo3 years ago

There are AI improvements every year. I don't think they'll ever be 100% perfect. Neither will humans though. We're always striving to make them as realistic as we can, but they're still computer players. They can only read plays so well. I think they've come a long way over the years, but we'll most likely never make everyone happy with them.
As far as seeing the same issues goes, yes, some still exist. That's on us and I hope we can do better with getting those resolved. On the other hand, there are issues that are fixed every year so we're not exactly ignoring every bug.
- Greyinsi3 years agoSeasoned Veteran@EA_Aljo considering the life span of the game (barely a year) and being pretty big part of the gameplay, yeah I would call it ages.
- @EA_Aljo Any word on this? I am literally conceding board battles and allowing goals because I can't stick lift even though it would be a perfectly normal time to. It's getting old fast. Modern warfare has been out for a week and they already fixed almost every big glitch that was occurring at launch.
I just picked up the game with the 30% off sale. The stick lifting is absolute trash. It is basically a penalty button now. If this is not a bug, who thought tuning it like this was a good idea? Epic Fail! How does this pass QA? Stick lifting was fine last year. It was a tool that I used as a smaller build to defend since I didn't have the OP Truculence. Now that tool has been taken away. I don't dare press the button now. This is pathetic.
Also, why do the AI pass in random directions when you call for the pass? It is so bad.
Why are there still flashing graphics/artifacts in outdoor rinks? This was reported since the beta of NHL 22. I even created a thread about it and linked youtube videos which you guys acknowledged, but it is still not fixed! Honestly, what the heck has the team been doing all year? This is a pathetic effort. Shameful.- NeonSkyline213 years agoSeasoned Ace@EA_Aljo You do understand that this is unacceptable, right? We all complain about every little thing but a games' controls literally not functioning as intended is something that needs to be fixed IMMEDIATELY. I don't think it's a wild assumption to think that fixing this bug is a trivial programming solution.
- belair_col3 years agoNew Adventurer@BassMan_PC Regarding the AI passing, there's definitely a learning curve, but I kind of like it. The AI should not be able to hit precision passes on request.
It matters when you're calling for it. You have to pay attention to how his body is positioned, where his momentum is headed and which side of the blade he has the puck on. He's being held to the same rules as a human player.
If you call for a bad pass he throws a bad pass.
Unfortunately this will eventually create another skill gap in online once the patient people figure out the mechanics, but the alternative is the AI once again being an overwhelmingly overpowered tool in a game mode that's intended to be human v human.
