We could see animations between the whistle of players hunching over with their sticks on their pants. Showing a player on the bench from taking a big hit moving their head around trying to shake it off. But most of all I think on rebuilding goalies it would go a huge way with potentially smoother animations and maybe less of pucks going thru body/pads that it shouldn't.

I know it's incredibly difficult, but if EA could pull this off with the NHL series it would be monumental.

Could also allow for bracing a hit. Could even be used to tone down LTing allowing for a more realistic looking balance loss.

glancing hits can already happen with the current technology...just go look on operationsports. many of those slider sets with higher stumble and fall values already give us flancing hits and dyamic checking...its just not tuned properly with the default sliders...
as far as goalies go...anotherthing just not tuned prperly...play around with shot accuracy offline and youl;l startt seeing tons of new kinds of goals when you increase accuracy...idk why....although i think a new branching animation techology would really help add more blocking animations so screens are more realistic...right now goalies hjae insane vision and screens are more 100 or 0 rather than lots of partial with blocking anmiations to stioll make saves but not in a controlled or accurate manner.
- rsandersr473 years agoSeasoned Ace@KlariskraysNHL I don't trust anything EA says until I see it. I mean a couple years ago goalies were to get much better at puck tracking, acknowledging loose pucks, and knowing how to defend rebounds.. I would argue nothing has changed except them trying to send rebounds into the corners at a higher percentage.
Years ago Madden spoke about players muscular system.. nothing changed. Now they have a skeleton? It's just hard for me to beleive in anything they say after being inept at best and lying at worst. They're a big company and they have to "say" they made lots of changes to ensure people will want to buy it. I'll be surprised if this technology makes any difference at all. I'll be happy to be proven wrong.- KlariskraysNHL3 years agoHero@rsandersr47 Goalies do track better in the game. But with set animations it isn't gonna stop certain shots. Goalies see insane shots thru screens which is how I know tracking is working overly well.
It's the reason I have asked for years that goalies have separate limb movement with like a range of areas so they can actually pick off some shots going top corner from time to time. But with pretty much set animations as a scorer against AI goalies it becomes knowing when, where, and how to get them goals because it's AI and once you learn the programming of it then it's easier.- rsandersr473 years agoSeasoned Ace@KlariskraysNHL I mean maybe in some ways? If I had a dollar for everytime I've seen a loose puck in front of the net and the goalie just sit there seemingly having no clue where the threats are or where the puck is and someone comes in and slaps it in.. or maybe a really weak rebound and the goalie just stays in the middle of the net as someone comes in and taps it in the side that he defelcted it to.. these were areas we were told they would have been improved. To make it even less of a debate, how upset have people been about the pregame stuff this year that we thought would be included? I just tend to beleive everything they promise seems to be much less than what we expect. Again I'll be happy to be wrong but it's just what most people have learned to expect from the company.

That sounds amazing, perhaps the one thing that could flatten out the 'hit bubbel' a bit.
