As someone who's bought the game every year since 2008, this is the best version since NHL 14 and it might be the best one ever. Poke check spamming has been fixed, cross crease one-timers have been fixed, one-timers from the point have been fixed, rebound glitch goals have been fixed and the AI is so much better. This game finally rewards making smart plays and cycling the puck and I'm no longer getting beaten by garbage players (I'm currently ranked 21st overall in online multiplayer). Please don't change anything EA. I was expecting more of the same but you did amazing this year. Just wanted to add a positive review to counterbalance everyone who doesn't know how to play the right way and wants to go back to the arcade games of previous years.

I will say this and this is no sarcasm. I do feel for the first time since I've been playing Chel I feel the goalie/skater matching is pretty even. A little edge to shooters because of that close quarters thing but I'm happy with the goalie play this year.

Listen, I’ve been playing NHL online since playing online became a thing. Speaking as an EASHL player, this game is straight up broken. LTing, speed and magnetism need a patch ASAP.

I have bought the EA NHL game every year going back to 98. Each game has its ups and downs. for me its 14 that is my all time favorite.

@Eddie_Shore1793 I agree. This gameplay is the best since 1994 as hockey videogame. It is like puzzle and everything it is the 1000% better than previous EA titles.
Unfortunately it is only gameplay so best. Everything else is still the same good and bad together.

I am playing offline season. I want to do thx EA devs for this gameplay.

yes 14 was great and my last one before 23. 14 was great except for the gameplay unfortunately...too simple and too scripted. And I can say the same about 2k9, 2k10, 2k11. Presentation superb, gameplay not. Still, I don't understand why EA didn't make a RE-master nhl14 rather than the awful presentation in nhl23? Scoreboard is a joke. This is easily the worst scoreboard in any sports game. In NHL 94, there was a perfect scoreboard that also showed how the line was doing. 16-bit graphic beat "super big master hd 3d engine"...so mad. How simple and functional it was. And replays? I don't understand why EA doesn't just change the perspective, view of the game surface when replaying? What is the use of so many programmers who don't even bother to watch any sport on TV and replays?
EA devs: change camera view less zoomed. change from close to high. It is 5 minutes for programmers to next patch.

Have you tried changing your camera view in game? There are options for not being zoomed in.

I mean replay. The camera view is too close to the player. We need more perspective.

In EA Hockey, the repeated shot action starts behind the goal and then moves to the players and then back to the goal.

In the TV broadcast, it is exactly the opposite. the camera starts following the player or the view behind the player, then moves to a side view towards the goal and then again to the shooting player and the goalkeeper and his intervention.

That's why I'm writing that it's enough for the programmer to just change the shots in nhl23.

@EA_Aljo I know in gametracker you can do it manually, switch between cameras, it is cool!

I thinked re-play at the match if you score goal.

@Eddie_Shore1793 Cross crease goals should work more than they do. The goalie will make desperation saves on 2-1s on cross ice feeds but he cant stop the guaranteed forehand goal. Either skate around the goalie on the forehand or back hand forehand deke for a sure goal.

Why? That's all people know how to do... how about people learn how to actually cycle the puck more. I like that it's harder to score cross crease goals, people exploited it in the past, if that the only way people know how to score, then they're not as good as they claim. But seriously how many cross creases do you see in an actual nhl game, and how many actually go in? I think as far as cross creases, goalies are right where they need to be.
