I heard people IRL arguee that defence is much harder to play and so I agree, but there has to be some sort of justice.
There’s 'million's way' to avoid defence and thers no direct 'cheat' to use as a defender.
You just try all the stuffs that's there for you to use and hope for some 'bad luck' for the puck carrier.
That last video from kid could/or should have result in at least 3 battles for a loose puck, instead there was none.
I guess there's no direct suprise hearing people complaining about the offens getting way to much credit vs the defence.
I think you could say that the game has potential to be twice as fun, as soon as they get the defence to be in a place were it's fun and effective to play. I dont think I need to say challenging, because there's already a ton of that in it's current state.
Not to mention, frustration.
For real, I think with a few tweaks to loose puck battles and adding some kind of actions from the A.I. - this game could improve quite a bit in the eyes of the community.
IMO, it's the HUT streamers who make up much of the Gamechanger group used to provide feedback privately that influenced changes to muted A.I.
The one defensive setup they had trouble exploiting with their behind-the-back, no-look backhand-sauce pass to an open winger (which used A.I. to get to the open space) was when someone controlled one defender. Using that one defender, you could shut down the constant (and I mean CONSTANT) push to the slot and FORCE the HUT Bunnies to actually make realistic passes (not the aforementioned glitch passes) which reuslted in a more realistic, but still 'sweaty' game when playing competitively.
They complained directly to EA about that, and now we have A.I. that's muted and prolonged puck possession through traffic, which is EXACTLY what the HUT bunnies need in their streams. They NEED to be able to move uncontested through the neutral zone and the slot, generating speed so that they can get those sweet wheel-snipe-celly goals for their Twitch streams and TikToks.
What the COMMUNITY needs is the A.I. to step up when they can without being too overpowered. The COMMUNITY needs tools to be able to shut down the HUT bunnies' constant obsession with scoring the same goals they find success with 90% of the time by way of not having to constantly swap control of defenders because they're basically just pylons most of the time.
Ye considering hockey is a sport with a lot of body contact it gets pretty far away from it's roots when the A.I isn't allowed to make any direct impact of the actually play.
Same thing here, it feels like it's easier to take advantage of the A.I when you playing with the puck, you just need them to be open for a pass, rest is up to you, but playing defence is a whole nother story, the game is fast and that open up a lot of diffrent options for the O-zone team to take advantage of a pretty muted AI, were you as a user often is busy with the one man you can control.
I can definitely understand the difficulties to find the exactly good balance, you want the A.I to help an already good user, but you don't want an AI to help out an awful user that don't know anything about defence.
The user input must always be the one thing that separate the good vs the bad.
But I think if the A.I could play true to the most logic and realistic situations that often occur in hockey, that would make it much easier to set up defence as the 1 man that you can only be in a 1vs1 mode like HUT and onlineVS.
Another thing that could be a problem with a more active AI is the possibilities that people will find a way to use poor AI ability to their own advantage, remember how easy it was to get the A.I to take a hooking penalty when they tryed to stick lift.
Which in some ways was still positive, because everyone got forced to play the guy most close to the puck carrier.
You got a game with a lot of 1vs1 moments.
And again, I haven’t played this edition yet so I cant really make a thrutful statment about the game, but I relay much of my opinions on experience from earlier editions and the things that you, kid, are sayin about the game, I know you try to play this game in a pretty honest way were you put the H in Hockey much higher then the C in cheese.
And yet you play competitive games on a high level.
